R56 Par for course.... why would anything be different.
Drew,
Absolutely... I've been caught in some freak of nature rainstorms and NEVER once had anything wet show up in the car.
They've got the car gutted with the parts drying. Hopefully I don't have the same issues with the Countryman.
Mark
You sure you want them gutting your car out? I wouldn't let them do it after having all those problems. I would have asked for a 3rd party to do it and have them pick up the bill.
Here's a few examples.
Last year, they replaced a windshield. Whoever was using the knife slipped and cut across the moulding on fender, cut the fender and the rubber gasket at the base of the mirror.
After I went the ^%&*$#^ off on them, I painted the fender and made them replace the mirror.
When I picked the car up from having the mirror replaced, I checked it out before leaving. THERE WAS A HUGE DENT about 3" below the mirror.
When I totalled the car and repaired it, I was putting trim back on it. I looked down and noticed there was no VIN#. I was like... HUH?? Where did my VIN# go.
Upon closer inspection, I could see what looked like black electrical tape covering the VIN#.
It took me 3-4 months to get a new VIN tag and again, I had to fix it.
About 2 months ago, I took the car in for a rattle in the door. They broke my door glass while adjusting the door glass. I let it slide because those door glasses are a PIA.
When I picked the car up, everytime I closed the door, I could hear broken glass in the bottom.
These are only a few examples, I could go on and on.
I understand mistakes are made but each time I get so pissed I refuse to let them fix their mistakes and then I have to clean up the mess.
Except this time. THEY'RE going to fix it.
I told them if they screw this up, I will go off like a pregnant woman that's been standing in a welfare line for 4 hours. (you got my point)
We'll see.

OMG... they should be paying another service center of your choice to replace the entire interior of your car. I wouldn't let them even so much as LOOK at my car after finding something like this, and yeah, you need to call the dealer board, the BBB, MINI USA and whoever else you need to to give these guys some repercussions for pulling this crap on you!
I just can't even believe this.
I just can't even believe this.
Did i say anything about my mini????
Since your keeping record i drive a Dodge Diesel 95% of the time and I never put less than $75 in at a time, unless of course the pump kicks off at $50 then i just drive to the next station i come too

My bad, I figured since we were in a MINI forum.....well nevermind....
Dude - Just start over and wand your card again........ No need to drive to another station.....
I'm in the bodyshop business, my shop is perfectly capable of doing myself. I just refuse to keep cleaning up their messes.

Negative if they are going to have such stupid limits I will not give them anymore money.
Woe......
Here is my analysis.
Mark, you are a consumate professional. The master of what you do.
You figure, hey, I do a good job, so will they.
:(
What I learned with my honda, bought new, still have, love, much more than the mini.
And I am being serious, from things I learned AFTER.
75% of mechanics are on cocaine.
90% are drunks, but fortunately, that includes the 75% on cocaine.
5% just dont care, or, they are in over their heads just getting a check.
That leaves a 5 percent chance of getting your car fixed/taken care of/worked on correctly.
This is not in one city or one mechanic, but in MULTIPLE cities, many, many mechanics, over 25 years.
So in a way LUCKY you can identify what they did so easily.
Normally, YOU CAN NOT figure it out until way down the line.
Anybody want to know how long a timing belt from the factory honda lasts on an 87 CRX (probably not but I will tell you, 218,000 miles, paid to have it changed 3 times, they ALL just wiped off the cover, 3 mechanics, 3 different cities).
95 percent chance of this Mark.
They are not all like you.
You have to figure out a way to not have this thing dropped off.
I know that is not the ideal, not the theoretical answer, but it IS
the real world answer.

Having said that, I can count on two hands how many comebacks we’ve had in 15 years. I can ASSURE you that if a customer does come back, I go over the car with a fine tooth comb. There is NO WAY they’re coming back for yet another problem.
I don’t think I should get special attention (any more than any other customer) but you would think that with my past history, they would take extra care not to screw up my car.
This last meeting with the service manager and general manager apparently has helped for at least the moment. They have returned phone calls and kept me informed as to what is going on.
We’ll see when I get the car back.
Mark
I have a trustworthy and reliable mechanic that charges acceptable prices. He always takes care of me. But the guy is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. You never know which one you are going to get. So condor27596 add that to you mechanics theory.
As far as the Countryman, I’ve been driving it for almost a week. It’s a great car but I can’t see buying it when I’m perfectly happy with the mini I have now. The only difference is I can carry 4 people comfortably with the Countryman. Since I have my H2, I can carry 5 people comfortably.... no point in making payments right now.
Soooo, hopefully my mini doesn’t catch on fire any more.
Mark
