07 Key-fob held down puts windows down?

I saw a youtube video a while back of a guy showing off his "new" mini and I believe it was the 07 redesign. He pressed the key-fob to unlock the door holding it down which put down the windows and also made the sun roof vent. Is that standard? or only a certain package?

Another question I have is about the 07 sunroof, I saw a picture on the "laser blue" owners showing off his right towards the end of the post with the back of the sunroof tilted open. Do all 07's do that also? As seen here in "faro's" post of his ride at night https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...owners-19.html

Any more cool facts you could share would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Rolling the windows down and opening the sunroof to vent with the key fob is a very standard thing on BMW products. I do not know about the first gen MINIs but my 09 does this. My 2006 BMW 330xi and 2011 BMW X5 do this as well.

When you open the sunroof to vent both panels are in the tilted up position.

Thanks onefish2 for a fast reply / picture.

Does any one know if the 07 (R56) does this as well?

2007 R56 is the same model designation as my car. Gen 1 cars were R50 or R53.

many BMWs from the past couple decades can do this little trick, it's a big help if you removed the key from the ignition to leave, but forgot to put the windows up. It also looks really cool…

My 09 R56 does this and I used it on day 1...

I have an early 2007, kind of transitional. It is gen.2, R56, new body, new (turbo) engine, etc., but for example the TPMS is still ABS sensor based, so I do not have sensors in the tires (which I actually like).

I do have the windows down / sunroof tilt feature on remote button press and hold.

What I don't have and miss too (implemented later in 2007) is the windows auto up function. I have auto down, but not auto up...

Furthermore, I can not close the sunroof or roll the windows up from the remote. So I can only open them and can't close. I'm not sure whether later models can do that or not...

There is another thread that discusses hot to override settings in the car's computer such as having the windows/sunroof close with the remote.

You can close the windows/sunroof by putting the actual key from the fob in the door handle lock and turning the key to make the windows/sunroof close.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...s-you-can.html

I ordered the cable mentioned in the above link/thread and will be doing a bunch of mods to my car's computer next week. I also have a new BMW X5 that has a safety override so you can't close the tailgate with the fob or the button inside the car. Only the button on the tailgate will cause it to shut. That drives me nuts. So I am going to change that and other annoyances.

I have a May 2007 MCS with the Comfort Access fob. If I hold down the lock button on the fob it will raise all the windows. Don't have a sunroof.
