New member here and a new owner: Picked up a 2009 Mini Cooper with panoramic sunroof(s) yesterday. And today it's pushing 100 degrees and sunny here in Fort Lauderdale. So my first question is:

Are these still available?

The zippeegear web sites don't work ... and I'm melting down here!

Thanks in advance, guys!

I had,(still have), the Zippy shade black. I finally opted for 5% limo tint. It cost about $180 for the tint. If you want I'll sell you the zippy shade or $25 shipped.

I opted for the 10% tint on the rear and 20% tint in the front. Keeping my Zippy shade for the windshield when parked or side passenger window on a long drive to shade my passenger.

I've been told not to tint the glass due to the probability that it will crack due to the heat being reflected back into the sunroof glass. Anyone had any problems with that?

I was told the same thing by a local tint service co. He happens to own an r56 with a sunroof and has tinted all is windows to different degrees, but left his sunroof alone. I appreciate his honesty and bought a "Zippee".

Just because someone else does or says it, doesn't make it less bunk...

Again, thanks for your expert advice. I guess I should go back to the tint shop and ask him why he would be so stupid to suggest not tinting the sunroof and lose the job.

I really don't care what you do, it's a piece of glass, it's not double insulated, it's automotive glass. Applying tint won't cause heat buildup, won't cause it to explode, or fail.

Don't just take my word for it, do some checking on your own. (the tint dude website has a lot of guys that tint for a living hanging out there.) They say it's bunk too.
