Just ordered the cover with the rear fog icon. It was actually bugging me that it was blank. Now I just have to get the rear fogs programmed:-(

I just installed my new toggle switch ($9) and now just need to find someone in the Maryland/DC/Northern Virginia area that can do the programming. I found no reason to order the new switch panel and pay $103 for an icon (didn't make much sense to me as I know what that switch is for). I would rather give the money to someone on this forum to program instead of the Stealership. Please let me know if anyone would like to make the easy money and what your price is...

Now why didn't I think about skipping the new switch panel? Great idea! This makes this project way more affordable. Thanks for the idea.

No idea but their labor rates aren't bad for a specialized MINI shop.

If your car is not running the same software version that the dealer has, it can take 4+ hours to complete as everything in the car gets updated to the latest version before they can process the retrofit.
I have 2011 justa looked underneath and there is a wire harness and bulbs for rear fog and reverse light. Went to delear Vista MINI coconut creek Fl, ordered 2 toogle switches one for the rear and another to fill the empty spot where the front fog would go. Paid 10 an change each, while at the Dealer I checked a floor model justa to confirm the wire harness for rear fog, yep same setup. I will install switches, but here is the catch, I'm due for my 1st service soon, does the dealer do any computer maintenance for the 1st service? And if so can they load the rear fog as part of an update? Or better yet can they just load the firmware that includes the rear fog as option. Anyone know the process? Thanks in advance.

So am I reading this right that the only thing you need to do in order to get rear fog lights is to buy a $10 switch and have the dealer program it? How come it costs $100 from the factory?

Anybody know of a place in Chicagoland that will program the rear fogs? I have a 2011 MCS. Haven't called the dealership yet, but suspect they will say no.

Thanks Way. We have swapped email on this in the past. I just need to make my Way allllll the way over to your side of town. My shopping list needs to get finalized (Engine Torque Arm Mount Inserts, rear sway, rear fog enable and the blow off valve).

Oh and by the way. For those of you who have NCS Expert and try to do the rear fog here is what he did.
First- just add VO $5AA into CAS and FRM module and default the car using NCS Expert.
Then- Go into IHK/IHKS module and then change the following string:
NSL_FUNKTION_SZM to AKTIV
That activates the switch that controls the rear fogs.
Hope that helped someone.

I picked up the cable and switch a while back, but haven't attempted it.

Coding for double blink hazards?

Yes, instead of blinking once they blink twice. I guess it's called a euro flasher.

He didn't do any hardware or wiring changes. My 2011 came with the wiring and lights already installed but not programmed. He only charged me $50 for as many codes as I wanted (ex.Auto up with remote).
