Just ordered the parts myself and when it's service time (coming up real soon) will request the programming at our local Crown Mini of Richmond.

Glad that worked out for you. Looking forward to this mod as well.

Here's what can tell you - as written on my invoice: A "New Vehicle Order with Added Rear Fog Light Option from MINI". "Loaded the New Vehicle Order and Programmed the complete vehicle".

This "programming" must be true as I see a difference where the Trip Odometer is positioned. Before it was to the right of the mileage and always showing. Now, it above the mileage where you can toggle to see MPG's and such. No big deal.

Now with all that said, telling Inskip that I posted they were able to activate my rear fogs... they stated laughing saying "Your the First, Your the Last"... we'll see

In closing I want to see that Inskip MINI Service department are the best. I'd send them info from the site and were always communicating with me what was happening. Just for this experience, I would buy another MINI without hestitation.

Parts: $100
Labor: $150
Result: One Happy DonOnCapeCod

I'm going into the shop at the end of the week for my annual checkup. I called ahead and asked about installing the switch. He didn't know what I was talking about so he asked around and came back with a quote for $500. I still don't think he understands that everything is wired up and just waiting for the switch (and reprogramming). I think it will sink in when I show it to them in person. I'll let you know how it goes.

Good luck with that. I tried the same thing after I installed the switch myself. The spent like an hour trying to figure out how to program it then said it can't be done.

Do you guys do the reprogramming too? How much would that cost? I'm at the dealer right now and am waiting for the official quote. I'll be at MITM next month...I know you guys are always there.

Thanks for including a link to this thread. The dealer wanted to remove the whole dash to get at the toggles. I showed them the photos in this thread on how to just remove the cover. Saved me about $150 in labor. It's going to end up being about $90 for the parts and $125 for the "labor" to run the reprogramming.

I just called Way Motor Works to get a quote on the install plus reprogramming. They can do it for much cheaper than the dealer. Too bad they're in Atlanta and aren't going to make it out to MINIs in the Mountains this year (my back yard). Just going to have to bite the bullet and have the dealer do it for about $225 total (parts and labor).

I'm thinking of picking up the obdii cable and downloading the ncs expert software. My local dealer wanted $455 to recode.

Just as a status update, the dealer was able to get it done on my 2011. About $90 for the parts and $125 for the labor. I took it in on Thursday. Got it back on Friday. They seemed like they knew how to do the programming stuff but it took them a while to get the right code from somewhere.

Did you ever check out the wiring harness before going in? Just curious if it is the same as '12.

No, I didn't. No idea if it is same/different from the '12's. Sorry.

For programming rear fog for Mini Cooper LCI 2011+ with the lamp and wire already in place, just add VO $5AA into CAS and FRM module and default the car using NCS Expert.

It will work right away.

I am now trying to figure out doing a front fog as my car is missing front fog. Can someone with factory front fog mine taking a picture of the plug coming right out of the rear of the front fog housing?
