Stereo question

I have the base stereo. It's easily the worst stereo I've ever had in a car. But, I can't change that now. My question is:

On the audio settings, where you adjust bass/treble/etc. there is a "S" function that goes from 1-6. I always thought that was a "source" volume setting for my iPod. Now it seems that isn't true? I noticed when I turned it up to 6 (hoping for better sound quality) all it did was increase volume when driving and it lowered automatically as I slowed down. Is that a speed sensitive volume setting?

The S control is for the speed sensitive volume control. To adjust the ipod's output, once its plugged in and you're playing a song, look at the list of options shown on the display under the song title. On the right, next to the there is a "level" selection. hit that and then you can adjust the volume of the source you're using e.g. ipod.

Also, I'm not advocating you going out and spend a small fortune on the Alpine stereo upgrade that MINI offers, but it's something to consider. Kind of on the expensive side...something like $500 before install. Otherwise, you may just want to upgrade the speakers that you have to help with the sound quality.
