R56 Effing co-worker took apart my fob!
I traded a '98 VW GTI in when I bought my MINI, and it also had a feature where you could use the key in the driver's door lock to raise or lower the windows and open the sunroof. So I was accustomed to that before we got the MINI, and was happy to see that it had the same feature.
And even though I also found out about the "hidden" key by accident, it IS in the manual. I just hadn't read that part yet.

Yup, my ole VW had that feature too. Didn't work with the sunroof though. Although I tend to roll up windows and such before exiting the car, just a trick I've learned over the years of driving...all 7 of them (frack, 7?!?!
)
)
The European spec cars will roll up... in addtion the 7 series trunk will close as well as open. In the US we are kept safe by our ever loving government. They prevent us from inadvertantly rolling up our windows or closing our trunks wiuth the push of a button. Feel safer yet? :P
solution to closing windows with fob.

kinda like vag-com for audi/vw's
one thing with CA i don't like-- if your key is in your pocket and you go start the car, then remember you forgot something inside the house, go in, unlock the door, set the key down on the table, and grab what you need- then go back to the car and drive off. Besides the 2 seconds of beeping where the car tells you key is missing, you're completely allowed to drive off. Once you get to your destination (Say a road trip 200 miles away)... you're stuck.
I feel the car should shut off/cut power if the key isn't inside when the car starts moving.
