Swapping TPMS

My 2010 S came with 16" wheels. I have a set of 17" after-market wheels I bought here from somebody for my 02 S. I want to put those on the car in a few months and was hoping I could take the TPMS out of the 16" ones and use them instead of buying replacements.

Can this be done, and if not who has a decent price on replacements?

Thanks

Not all wheels are compatible with TPMS. If the wheels were made around 2002 I doubt they will be.

Can you explain enough so I can look at my wheels and see if they would? I mean my perception is if you can fit the valve stem in the hole, it should work. But then I know little about this so I may be missing something. Just don't know what "something" is.

Thanks,
Jim

It probably can be done. Most tpms systems want you to replace some of the stem parts any time you dismount a tire.

New sensors for your 2010 are about $400. Older sensors will not work, Mini changed the frequency for 2010. (the old ones were about $180 for 4)
