R56 How much are 07 Mini's being bought for right now...
if i were you, i would rather wait for an 09 version. it seems a lot of 07 have issues... and if you did find someone sell you one cheap.
I would be worried what you might inherit. I always never buy the first year it was made.
I bought my 09 MCS brand spanking new for under 23k. never bothered with all the stupid options. seems a lot of European manufacturers charges every little bits. Coming from Hondas and Toyotas. I know where my money counts.
I couldnt fathom paying over 30k for a Mini. It's just a Hatchback..argue all you want, you don't have to convince me why 30k is ok for Mini.
and to the member that paid 30k for ur mini and hoping to get 20k back if you decide to sell it. HA good luck.... One thing i learned about Minis, Resale Value Sucks.. dont let the dealers fool u when u buy one... I thought about trading up to a BMW 135i the other month and it was a joke what they bothered to offer me in trade in....
My advice, Do you homework, get a car fax, and find a Mechanic who knows about Mini.

Got my 2009 MCS chili red 2 weeks ago
Bought my chili red 2009 MCS w/14.3k for $18,995 a couple weeks ago from a local MINI Dealer, the MSRP was > 30k (auto trans, aero kit, cold weather, leather seat).
That dealer still has another 2009 MCS in Lightning Blue with ~30k miles for sale at $17455.
I am in DC area.

I bought my '07 3 weeks ago from a Ford dealer in Northeast Ohio for $15,495. When they first listed it, they had it listed at $17,772. Price had been dropped to $15,995, and I got another $500 off of that.
This particular Ford dealer sold 3 used MINIs (my '07 and an '09 the same day, and an '08 the following day.

This is the best advice ever. Probably b/c I practice the same thing. Good to know that the 07's are first year built for R56, I wasn't aware.
This advice should go for anything electronic - cell phones, tvs, computers, cars....let all the bugs be worked for a year or two before buying.

Wow, this is an interesting thread. I've been trying to sell my 07 MCS with 40K miles for about 6 weeks now. I have it listed at $17,250 and have barely gotten a single nibble, and it's listed at $1K under KBB valueforexcellent condition (which it is). Are the R56s just harder to move in general? I've been completely befuddled by the lack of interest in what I feel is a pretty reasonably priced car.
18K for an 07 MCS back in May, at a TX BMW/Mini dealer. Car in good shape 31K on the clock. Sport Package. Auto Climate. Xenons. Front and rear fog lights. The fancy leather seats (I should have looked for one with the sport seats, they're more comfortable (IMHO). 17" white wheels, Lightning Blue with white roof. No sun roof! It was just about the car I had configured online.
My first Mini, the sales guy said to drive it with the Sport button on to make it driveable. The car was hard to drive until the dealer replaced the fuel pump. I got a notice from Mini that the Fuel Pump warranty had been extended and the car almost immediately had problems with cold starting. Finally, the car threw a check engine light and the dealer replaced the fuel pump under warranty. It's a different car.
If your Mini is stalling and having trouble with cold starts, the fuel pump is a good candidate for the problem. The shop report listed the codes and the tech notes that they were not related to the pump. He was told to replace the pump and the problem went away.
This took two trips to the service department. First trip, the service rep would not put it in the shop with out more than my report of a problem, I had to wait for the check engine light to come on. A member of the local club was stranded on the highway by this problem.
On the bright side, they gave me a nice 2010 MCS loaner for three days and a detailed shop report on the work.
The car was a blast before. Now it's amazing. The car is now very driveable without the Sport Button on. Amazing performance increase on the throttle. The car was always fast. Now, it's quick.

I got my first Mini in July of this year at a Mini Dealership. It is a Mini certified MCS 07... manual, JCW 18 wheels, JCW body kit, bi-xenon, rear fogs and bluetooth, 21.5 K with extended 4 year warranty or 70 k. I got it for $20K. Not sure if that's a lot but I thought it was a good deal.

Until that event occurs, any setting of an estimated value is only speculation.
can't compare CAD to USD. We pay WAY more for the same cars up here.
I made the drive from Boston to BFE, New Hampshire for an '07 MC - Automatic, 36K miles (8 months of warranty left), BRG with white bonnet stripes and roof, moonroof, heated sport seats. She was a mere $14,500. I felt like I had stolen candy from a baby.
Holy crap. Give your buddy a high five.
