Thinking about a 2011 Cooper S

Hi everyone. I think i may be having some problems deciding between a cooper and a cooper S, i really like everything about the S but the only thing i dont like is that it doesnt have a spare. I have done some research but where i live (puerto rico), it isn't enough having a compressor with the slime because there are a large amount of potholes. i will ditch the runflats if i get the S but where can i put the spare? in the trunk? thats the only storage space i have!! i don't know....this decision is killing me.

Take the back seats out and put it there.

A full-size tire/wheel will fit standing behind the back seat in the boot area. Of course it will limit the amount of hidden cargo space so if that's a problem maybe a Clubman would be a better fit for you? I'd hate for a spare tire fitment issue could get in the way of MINI motoring excitement.

I know I've seen that thing that holds a wheel on the outside of the hatch like a Jeep, but I can't remember what the MINI version is called. Otherwise, a spare, full size or one of the OEM MINI tiny ones, could easily fit in the storage space behind the rear seats.

My advice, don't skip out on an MCS just because of a spare tire!

Appreciate the help. My best option is probably going for the full size spare wheel in the trunk (or back seat). Pretty much this car is for my use only (my mom and sister each have separate cars), maybe give a ride to some of my friends or somethin, but overall if i need the space i sure can make up for it folding down the seats.

You may want to consider an S Clubman. The Clubman's exhaust splits around the original spare tire compartment and it is intact. Ditch the runflats and put a mini-spare in the spare tire compartment. Check this out to be sure that the 2011's are the same.

The reason the MCS R56 and R57 don't have a space for a spare tire is the larger muffler on the S is in its place. The twin exhaust tips on either side of a Clubman allow the compartment to remain intact.

Good luck!!
