oil pan drain plug

While I can remember exactly, I think it is an 8mm allen wrench. My recommendation is to replace it with a drain plug that you can put a closed end wrench or socket on to (1) make it easlier to remove and (2), more importantly, less probability of stripping the OEM recessed hex plug. Just a thought...

I use a socket wrench with a hex bit - a must have if you want to torque it to spec. I hate that my socket wrench gets covered in oil when I remove the bolt though. Then it gets slippery and I usually end up dropping the whole wrench in the oil.
Replacing the drain plug sounds like a good idea.

Mine uses an 8mm allen. No need to tighten it like the whole car is held together by that bolt, just a little tighter than snug will work, that way it wont get stripped allen or bolt head...

I use the 8mm allen wrench to remove it. The allen wrench is easier to clean up once it gets oil all over it upon removal.
