Plastic model kit?

While waiting to get a black Mini, I wanted to build a model of the car to experiment with a few ideas for stripes and wheel colors and "stuff". I went to a couple of hobby shops and was told they don't know of any Mini kits except for the old 1960's Mini Cooper. I didn't find anything online either, but Google and I don't work very well together. Do any of you know of anyone making a kit of the modern Mini? Thanks - Ernie in Seattle.

Look at www.towerhobbies.com. No 2nd gen stuff, but they have a pretty neat little 1st gen car (I'm building one for my daughter).

Mini USA has a website where you can make your own customized mini. You can even make your own background for your computer.

Fujimi makes some. Looks like about a 2003. Revell made a 2002. There are no R56 kits yet. This is a Fujimi kit with a few modifications:

Built out of the box it just looks like a stock MINI with S-Lites. I modified the suspension to get it lower, added wheels from an Accord touring car, big brakes, seats and steering wheel from an Acura race car model, scratch built harnesses, made an open sunroof, carbon fiber front splitter, front mounted intercooler, and put carbon fiber decals on the spoiler, door handles, gas cap, scoop, and headlight rings. Paint is actually orange but I sprayed a clear iridescent over it that makes it flip to pink in the light.

there are R56 R/C Cars, that are detailed enough for trying things out.

If you've got a Love's or Pilot nearby, they have an R56 diecast 1/24 scale made by Jada for under $20, might have to custom paint to your color, and they all come with regular white rally stripes, but might be worth checking out.

Squirez that is one awesome model. I wish I had the talent for that kind of detail work.

Thanks for showing.

Nice but not the same. Kyosho makes the real sweet die cast that are sold at the dealerships. I am hoping someone release an r56 with a 2 in 1 so that you can make a Cooper or a Cooper S and some JCW parts would be sweet. I would definately paint it and make it look exactly like mine. But I would also have another one to just make it look crazy.

There are these, from MiniMania: http://new.minimania.com/web/Item/G2.../InvDetail.cfm

Pretty good selection from here too, with some R56s: http://www.diecastmodelswholesale.co...per/Categories

What a beautifully detailed model, Squirlz!

It's a shame you've been waiting all this time for a plastic model thread to share it.

Thank you! Actually there is a model/diecast/collectible thread that I posted it in a few years ago.
