Sliding floor mats

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, but I didn't see it so I thought I would post it here.

My dealer floor mats (carpeted) are starting to slide up towards the front of the car. They are not staying in place anymore. It looks as though the pushpin type method of securing them into the floor popped out and won't go back in. Does anyone else have this problem and if so, what did you do? Take it back to the dealer or fix it yourself? If you fixed it, how did you do it?

It gets to be very annoying having to pull them back every time I get in the car. Sure don't want to pull a Toyota.

Thanks for the feedback!

I removed mine. Think of it as also saving weight!

Or get some sticky-backed velcro that you could stick to the under side of the mat, and it catches on the carpet.

Cocomats are your friend. They have very heavy rubber backing, with nibs that keep them in place. They don't move ANYWHERE, period, not even a millimeter. Quality stuff, and available in lots of colors/patterns that complement Mini interiors nicely. Check 'em out at cocomats.com. Brak's highest 100-star product endorsement.

I don't know what floormats you have, I have the dealer accessory rubber mats in my '03, but they are heavy and stiff enough that they don't seem to move....

In my '09 Clubby, the mats came with some velcro tabs that fit into hole in the floor, are those what you have too? If so I think you can buy new ones.

Otherwise, take the mat out or just remember to pull it back everytime you get into the car. I think what moves it forward is when you get into the car, your heel pushes it forward as you sit down....

Why won't the fixing pegs not go back in floor? Are they broken or what?

X2 on the coco mats. They are high quality and not much more expensive than factory mats (even cheap ebay coco matts are better than factory). If you get a contrasting color they can make your interior pop. I got calico with my black interior.

mats

Interesting Captsprocket,....I was just about to order those $104 carpeted floor mats ($84 from Morristown, NJ). Now, I may have to re-think it. I have no answer for your problem. Maybe jump over to the Cocomats that KevinC likes (seen their website - not sold on their fit).

I've noticed the same thing (floor mats sliding forward) with my factory rubber mats as well. I just tug them back when they need it right now, but I will probably try the velcro trick and see if that works before I go out ordering new ones.

I have the same problem in my 2005 MINI. Thinking when it gets warmer out I will jimmy-rig something together. It is getting rather annoying now.

My rubber floor mat on the driver side has velcro on it. It doesn't move at all.

Yep my new 2010 Mayfair drivers mat has a lose peg and keeps sliding foward. I've tried to screw it back in but it just won't go! So off to the dealer tomorow. I have an appointment for a ding repair and they can fix the cheap mat too. I had bought custom mats for my daughters mini from Autobarn and they have no problems with them but they are definitely heavier than the ones that came in my car.

Zipity-do-da

Maybe, Captsprocket, you could punch a couple holes in the mat, near the seat. Then, use some zip ties to hook up to the seat rail

Cocomats aren't everyone's cup of tea, and I get that. They're somewhat radically different material than your typical carpeted or rubber mats. But I can assure you that their fit (I'm talking the "genuine" ones from cocomats.com, all bets are off on any cheap knockoffs) is without reproach. It's as if they were fitted by factory personnel. Here are pics in both my MCS and Z4MC. Perfect fit, and they NEVER move.. and that's a really important benefit.
