R56 Mini gets new engines
I ordered my MCS with the intention of having it replace my M Coupe. Much better gas mileage, cheaper insurance, and I could load it up exactly to my preferences and just about break even (the Coupe is paid for). Well, selling it has been difficult, and now I don't want to sell it. Insurance is only running me $240/year more for both cars than for the Coupe alone. I'm going to hold onto it as long as financially practical. Boy, I'll miss that car if/when it's gone.
Porthos - The first link you have is to the same article I referenced in my post (#7) in this thread.
I'm still waiting to hear from my dealer when they're able to place orders for March builds. Seems a bit strange that March is less than a week away and MINI hasn't dolled out the allotment numbers yet.

I just talked to a Mini Dealer and the sales manager confirmed the new engines will be for US cars. He said the new engines should be in production by March/April. He said he is waiting for a official announcement from Mini USA. Hopefully we will not have to wait much longer to order a new car with the new engine.

my MA told me yesterday that the new engines will not come till the 2011 refresh... super confused... I really wanted to order this weekend to take advantage of the 1.9% apr, but not if I won't be getting the new engine.keep us updated if you can, thanks!
The refresh comes out in about 6 to 8 months. It will be ok. Once again it is the same motor but some changes, namely valvetronic. And seeing in your post that you want a Camden you won't be able to get it with this new addition because they are soon to end making that special edition.
Not true, unless Gabe @ Motoring File is being fed bad info.. and he has been 100% reliable in the past.
I'd wait at least one more week to see if there is a official announcement from Mini USA. I heard Mini sales are down 20% this year so the 1.9% might be around for a little longer?
Here is a look of the refreshed interior for 2011.

No offense towards the owners/moderators here at NAM, but it would be great if they had a more direct pipeline into Mini USA, so that info on things like this could be reliably relayed to us in a timely manner.
At vwvortex.com, the head man is actually on the VWoA payroll as a consultant, and VW regularly communicates info through him to its members. When the 25th anniversary GTI was given the green light for 2003, the colors offered were determined directly from a poll taken on the site. With the Golf R now under consideration for sale here, they are polling members on whether they want a 2-door or 4-door version, and DSG or manual tranny. VW monitors this info VERY closely. Alas, no such close ties seem to exist here. Mini USA would be well-advised to reach out to the NAM brass and establish a similar relationship. It would be a win/win for everyone involved.

I hope we hear something about new engines and March production from MINI USA soon. Would really like to get the order in and the ball rolling! At least I have a little more time to figure out color combos while I wait.
Thought I'd throw this in... the UK press release for the Countryman said:
At launch the Countryman range will include three petrol and two diesel models, as well as two ALL4 all wheel drive models – the Cooper D ALL4 and Cooper S ALL4. The petrol engines are the new 1.6 litre power plants already announced for the Hatch, Convertible and Clubman models due in March 2010. The diesel units are shared with the rest of the MINI range.
Revised engines availability in NA!
I just got confirmation from a dealer in Montreal, Quebec, that the revised engines will only be available on 2011 models in North America. He got this information from MINI Canada. How reliable is this information - I'm not sure - as I'm well aware that they want to sell 2010s and/or don't want people to hold off on their purchase.
Now I'm wondering when will it be possible to place orders for 2011s?!
My lease is up this July...
