Yep our 2010 MINI has two strings the rear parcel shelf. Richard.... you may ask your MA about this issue.

While I do have two strings on my 2010, I'm personally finding the shelf a royal pain in the a$$. Seems more decorative than anything else. My wife likes it in there, but I'm about to scrap it...anyone else feel the same?

If it's purpose was to keep your scoop from melting (lol) then perhaps they ditched it because it was completely ineffective.
