2010 with H/K Sound

Has anyone received their 2010 with the H/K in it? If so how does it compare?

Yes, they started last month. I should know how the new H/K System sounds in a few weeks.

I picked up mine yesterday. I think it sounds pretty good. I'd taken a few test drives in other cars but none had the h/k system. I wasn't sure what to expect. So yes, I'm pleasantly surprised. I do have to say I'm not wowed, but then I came from a 2006 Passat with Dynaudio which I would have to say is the best car audio I've ever heard. Knowing that, and still saying the h/k is good is definitely a compliment.

Typ 17, eh? Had one back in the day. My most recent VW was a Typ 53b (aka Scirocco 16V).. I still have the AZ vanity plate from it sitting right here.

I'm still on the fence about ordering a new MCS, and I'm really curious to hear the HK sound system. As soon as some cars show up in stock, I'll check it out.

Typ17,

Thanks for the input. I have a BMW now and it has "Logic7". I have not heard a stock system that has sounded better so it will be tough to compare.

Wow - so few people know what the heck a typ17vw is - I'm impressed. I still have mine - 77 two door gasser. Which is EXACTLY why I bought the MINI. It gives me the feeling of driving a modern version of my Rabbit and what could be better than that?

Picked mine up last night and I thought it sounded fantastic. But then again I was coming from a stock Honda Odyssey stereo...I don't have refined ears like some of y'all

I had a 1980 VW Rabbit, but have no idea what a 'typ17vw" is.

So the big question. Is it work the $500 for the factory H/K or would $500 be better spent in Aftermarket. Considering sound quality only and then consider that it is factory and under warranty etc.

^^^^^^^^^^think it's $750 or part of Premiun Package at $1750.

(Premium for Coupes this year includes sunroof, Auto/Air and HK, the total would be $2250 purchased seperate)

Without hearing the new HK system, just comparing the std system to the Hi-Fi system it was worth the $500. That said, the hi fi system wasn't great. The new HK is supposed to be much better.

Since I ordered my car with the premium package, the HK is what I'm getting. The problem with most new cars is that the headunit is so integrated into the car, and so proprietary, you really can improve on it. It used to be that everything was DIN sized and you could replace the cheap head with something a lot better. Now you are really stuck. You can upgrade amps, crossovers, and speakers all you want. But as they say, garbage in, garbage out...

Good catch.. So is it worth the $750 separate? I think its a no brainer now for the premium package.

I owned a Typ 17 back in the day, but my all-time favorite VW was this one.. had her for 10 years before selling last year.

Yeah I would really like to hear if someone had an older hi-fi or regular system and can compare it to the new H/K. I will be able to compare my non hi-fi to the H/K when I get my new Mini in a month.

Well I've had it for a couple of days. .. It ain't the BOSE system in the Audi that's for sure. It's better than the Hi Fi, but it's a but front biased, and a bit boomy. I'll get the sound tuning cds out and see what adjustments I can do. Hopefully there is a secret hidden eq like the BOSE system had.
