The so called "lost connection" to the road more than likely is based on suspension or possibly lack of. The R56 still handles superbly and in no way is a detractor for the Mini brand and it's heritage.

My intent was not to ruffle a bunch feathers, but to defend and object to such a poor comparison as the PT Cruiser. It just rubbed me the wrong way.

It is like kicking my dog. Where I come from you don't get away with that.

bumbles44, why are you comparing a Turbo PT to a Cooper? You need to campare it to a S. Then you will see how fast a MINI can be.

 

I'm sure the base MINI is prolly more expensive than a PT Cruiser Turbo with all the discounts you can get on American cars.

The 1st gen bimmer coop captured the essence of BMW ultimate two door corner hugger and the 2nd gen kindve just flushed most of that down the toilet, not to disregard altogether as a good car, but nowhere close to the feeling the first gen evoked.
