Interior door pull cheap

My interior door pulls are starting to sound really , creaky and plastic-y and its getting on my nerves lately, I only have 10k miles and I'm sure its only going to get worse with time. Any ideas on how to fix it? Maybe dynamat or some sort of filler?

Well, it's too late now that they are making noise i suppose,

I am VERY gentle with mine. My wife is an absent-minded oaf and immediately yanks as hard as she can on the door handle the first time which, as we all know, only unlocks the door and you have to pull it a second time to open it. Then of course, without fail... every time.... she yanks on it a second time even harder and says... every time, "Why won't this unlock?" ... even though she's done it a hundred times before....

I have to try to remember to hit the unlock button before we come to a complete stop or else, I go through the same routine every time without fail...

I fully expect to have issues with the passenger door well before anything goes wrong with the driver's side.

that does suck, but I was talking about just the pull that you actually close the door with, it sounds like its just hollow plastic that's snapped together, not the actual metallic door handle.

I agree that the plastic pull handle feels pretty snapped together, my car has less than 5000 km on it and I could see it getting creaky before too long

Ah yes... so I just went on a rant for nothing! Disregard that!

I haven't had problems yet, but I just turned 1000 miles on mine. I guess during the pleasant days you could always roll down the window and use the top of the sill as a handle...

Still, it's a temporary solution to a permanent problem.

Mine too!

Mine has been doing for some time now. I'm just really careful how I treat it. Shouldn't have to, but I do.

I don't know if this helps but you can turn the auto lock feature off. Additionally you can set the keyfob to unlock all doors at once as well.

You went on a rant AND called your wife an "absent-minded oaf". I hope for your sake she doesn't read NAM!

Isn't there a way to reprogram the interior door handles to unlock only on <one> pull?

if you change the settings not to auto lock when you start driving it will only require 1 pull to exit.

the reason the door handle pull to close the door sounds like hollow plastic is because it is. If you check the tread on how to remove your door panels to replace speakers, you will see that there are screws behind the handle that you may be able to tighten back up and reduce some of the play. Hope this helps.

I just came on here to complain about this myself! Both of my door pull/armrest/whatevers sound terribly creaky when i pull the doors shut and I have no idea what to do about it. I'll try looking for those screws..

Red Line Door Pull Covers

I had Red Line (http://www.redlinegoods.com/index.htm) make covers for my "plastic" door pulls. They are not stronger but they look better, feel better and sound better. (the color variations are the camera person problem-sorry).

13000 miles on my JCW and the door pulls sound like I'm crushing a water bottle every time I want to close the door. Taking it to the dealer on Monday to have them take a look.

The door handles may be one of my biggest concerns about the car. When I first got it, I didn't realize that I could turn off the double pull to unlock then open up the door. So every time a friend didn't realize they needed to pull it twice and tried to get out of the car, they just about ripped the door handle off. I had shut off the double pull so no one snaps them. They don't seem creaky yet, but I can't imagine it being too long before they crack off.

Oh I just realized you guys were talking about the actual door pieces. Yep, mine are really creaky too. Like Wizeguy said, mine sound like I'm crushing a water bottle. But the only thing I use them for is an arm rest on long drives. I try to be really gentle pulling the doors in.

It's not the silver piece that you unlock the door with that we are talking about. It's the large plastic piece that can be used as an arm rest, or probably the piece that you grab when you are inside the car and the door is open and you want to close it. When you pull on it it sounds just like someone crushing a water bottle with their hands.
