R56 Bonnet Stripe Schmutz
Bonnet Stripe Schmutz
Finally got warm enough here in St. Louis to do a hand wash and wax over the weekend (joy!)
During winter I guess I'm a wuss and take Augie through the carwash once a week (not the wheel track ones!).
Anyway with Augie looking oh so sharp after the wax job I noticed a film on the Bonnet Stripes. Looks kinda like soap scum which I guess it is.
Any suggestions on what product would remove this?
Thank!

Thanks for the quick response guys. I clay bared last spring but *thought* it might not be a good idea to use on the bonnet stripes. I read somewhere not to wax the stripes. Could be wrong
PS MakoBimmer-Augie has a similar paint scheme and bonnet stripe combo as yours

Ive used the acrylic Klasse All in One over the stripes on two Chili Red/B MCS's ive owned over the last 5 years, and never have been disappointed. Just go lightly and apply often.

You can clay bar the stripes, but do it very lightly.
And definitely wax the stripes.
You want to protect them just as much or more than you protect the paint. The wax can't hurt today's vinyl, unlike some of the vinyls from a couple decades ago.
If the clay bar doesn't remove your schmutz, before you wax, try some Scratch-X on a microfiber towel and again, go at it VERY lightly.

Once you get everything cleaned up and right, consider using Rejex. I've been using it on all my vehicles for more than five years. As long as your paint is good, Rejex will provide a deep, slick shine and protect the surfaces from grime build up. We offer it on our site at BumperPlugs.com and you can find it in various shops from time to time.
