I find that the Chrome on the DS is a very nice combo. I had the black out idea in my head when I ordered mine but the 1st time I saw the combo I decided against blacking out anything on the car. To me, DS and Chrome are the perfect match. (JCW cf hood scoop is the exception, it fits well too with the DS)

Crap...does anyone know anywhere (besides the dealer) that I can purchase new chrome headlight washer caps? I am an idiot and broke both of them by just prying them off.

*sigh*

ouch! I thought about trying to pry mine off, but I decided against it. Are they really THAT fragile? :(

I am just waiting for my HL to dry so I can put them back on! :D

I figured out how easy it was AFTER I broke them both. Pull the cap thingy out (away from the car) and behind it squeeze the plastic thing that they are hooked too. It's very bendable plastic...then you can just pull the caps off.

After reading what I wrote, I doubt it will make sense to you!

It's hard to explain without pics!

Why is it that the people always complaining about "originality" never show their mini and wow us about how original they are.

To the Op: Plasti-dip works great if you do it right. I dipped doors, gas cap and tail lights- left the first 2, just changed the tail lights and head lights to body color. Best part about it, the tail light dip just peeled right off and back to normal in minutes.

Personally to me, I think tail lights and head lights looks better body color, but hey, lots of different ways you can do it.

open the gas cap door. look on the inside of the door on the top. You will see a little tab. Take a needle with a hook nose and pull on it, while the tab is bent out a bit , "unscrew" counter clock wise outside gas cap door cover. It will only move about 1-1.5" Voila...

i never figured it out, so i did it with the gas cap on. same with the doors. be sure to protect the car, but even if you get some on the car, you can always wipe it away later. not a big deal.

Here is a shot of my newly Plasti-dipped grill trim, body color headlight rings and homemade stripes, all done in the last week.

And to those who dont like the black out thing............dont do it, it's as simple as that

How do the door handles feel with this stuff? My plasti dipped stuff feels like I need to be gentle with it to be honest. I did 1 light coat and 2 heavy coats.

Don't use that one the plastic. It will dry out everything much sooner and end up making your plastic look white. You can buy Black WOW. It works really well and last forever.

Blah the plasti-dip on my door handle is coming off...I'm going to just buy black covers instead. Plastic dip is better on stuff you don't normally touch much, gas cap, head light rings and side scuttles.

I think it should last some time if you prep the base right. Did you sand it at all ?

I don't think sanding is needed for plastic dip. The reason why the plastic dip is peeling off is because of the edges. And the door handles are use frequently.

Sanding is needed for everything. You should of just sanded them down slighty before you painted them. Just enough for the gloss to go away. It will last alot longer. Especially on the edges.

Personally, even though I've blacked out my CR/B, I'm still undecided about the look.

I like the headlights, but everything else seems out of place. I really don't like the look of color matching everything, so I'm stuck. Anything is an improvement over chrome IMO (in most colors).

I agree...I think each car has the personallity of its owner. You may not like what one is doing but unless your asked for an opinion....keep it shut we don't want to hear it....

I dont like chrome on my car but it looks good. Just not what I want on mine. As for Plasti-dip not a big fan, the good is its temporary and can be removed.

I'm going to buy plasti-dip on my way home. Can someone translate this for the hard-of-understanding and/or post a pic?
I'm assuming the same method will work for my Clubbie, which is dark silver and therefore, I IMHO, the blacked out rings will look extra phenomenal.

ok i need feedback from peeps that painted their wheels , and put some miles on them....how is plasti-dip handling the constant rock/road debris attacks???, what about washing with chemicals, etc....nice weather is around the corner and im debating on what to do with my wheels. Basically they need to get recoated in something, either plast-dip, sanded and painted flat black or powdercoated black....im leaving powdercoating as my last resort and putting plasti-dip up front...

How do you remove the fuel filler cover to paint? Or must it be painted on the car?
