I've test driven a bunch of variations: 2006 MCS, 2008 MC and MCS, 2008 MCS with stage 1 JCW kit, and the 2008 JCW. Decided a new MCS was fine and I didn't really need the JCW. Hope I get one that's pretty much problem-free. Anyone dealt with MINI of Sterling, VA?

My MCS: SS/SS, redwood lounge/brushed alloy, white signals, chrome mirrors, rear fogs, flame spoke wheels, cold weather, anthracite headliner, multi-function, 10 speaker hi-fi, comfort access. Just over $28K.

My only suggestion would be to be precise to config your car. My config took about 1.5 months of research and all the packages I thought I absolutely needed- I didn't order 1 package. For me, a total waste and I'd rather put the $ elsewhere.

So keep reading, figure out what is a must and go from there. Beautiful thing about it is you decide.

Don't get paniced by posts talking about problems. First of all, with few exceptions, people owning cars WITHOUT problems rarely post just to say they have no problems (but as with the Consumer Reports survey, such represent the vast majority of owners.) Second, many of the "problems" aren't really problems at all, but frequently things that are different than the owner expected, or things that the owner didn't check out prior to ordering. My 2008 MCS is now just over 4000 miles old and I have had absolutely NO problems, and in mixed urban/suburban/highway driving am getting, according to the on-board-computer, 38.3 mpg (admittedly mostly driving at the speed limit, few jack-rabbit starts, etc.). Let's just say I'm VERY satisified with my decision to buy the MCS.
