Thanks for adding the warning for cold climates.

Back before Prestone, Alcohol was commonly used as an automobile radiator antifreeze
and since alcohol is also a good, non-spotting glass cleaner, wonder if it would be good to add to windshield washer water?

On the subject of other car models with questionable "extras," I've been driving a VW Golf while waiting for my dream car (that would be a MINI, of course).

Things that bug me about the Golf:
1. the paint peeled off the cheap plastic door handles so it looks all molty (moldy? just plain gross)
2. the interior fabric came loose around the door (non-smoking vehicle)
3. noisy sunroof, noisy car
4. no matter how many times i change the AC filter, the car smells atrocious
5. does not hug curves (got completely blown past by a MINI on the way to work)
6. wanna talk about a crap place for cupholders? how about VW's brilliant idea to mount them above the radio and climate control so that you cannot control the switches without moving your cup? and a tight curve and there's coffee all over the inside of the car, dash, lap, etc!
7. for a car its size, crap mileage: 18/24. its shameful.

That's everything I can think of for the moment, but I can clearly see everyone's point. No car is perfect but the MINI is closer to perfect than most.

This has nothing to do with AC filter. Search on Vortex how to clean the moisture in the ventilation system and you'll be good.

Basically:
The reason why you have moisture in the ventillation is well known. You need to turn off the AC and blow off the humidity out of the vents (so wait 30sec or so at full blast) before turning off the car.

If the moisture is already there, start the car, remove the air filter (pollen filter) under the hood, run the ventillation full blast (no AC) and spray a lot of lysol for like 2 mins directly were the pollen filter is. Wait another 5-10 mins at full blast. You'll be good next time you turn off the AC!

I still haven't recovered from the idea of a MINI/Mini with AC, power windows, and air bags!!!!! I guess until that sinks in I'll be pretty thrilled.

Thanks, Blankito! Since my husband will be inheriting the VW when the MINI finally arrives, he'll be pleased to be able to alleviate the stink bomb.
