observations

I know many of those who live in America have never had an opportunity to max out there cars, but do MINIs come with speed regulators? Also can anyone explain why my car revs HIGHER like 7200 RPM after a few mods? Before the car was tough to get to 6400, I am thinking my rev limiter is not working anymore, is this even possible? there definetly appears to be NO CUTOFF in the high end.

Any rev or speed regulations would be in the ECU... So I assume.

Maybe your engine is breathing easier, so it can now rev more free?

Considering your location, I would have to guess that the euro spec MINIs are not electronically limited...the same holds true for the BMWs over there.

Ah - don't assume it's a Euro-spec vehicle. I got both my MINIs there, and both were American-spec.

Not sure about the mods since I had stock, but I got mine going pretty well on certain areas of the autobahn. I can't say why yours would rev SO much higher. I have (and had) an MCS, and at about 155 MPH (keep in mind folks, this was on an unrestricted area of the autobahn! The digital readout goes a little higher than the speedo.) I was at about 6,500 RPM. Maybe I was just working the hills pretty good, though....

Maybe it's the weight of the mods?

I don't ever assume anything...but i do guess a lot.
You do have a point though, and seeing as we were not provided with the info on how matty's car is spec'd out...all I could do was guess.

How fast do you really need to go?Most of the owners of Ferrari's and lambo's cant use their vehicle for how it was built. To me its a waste of money, but if they can afford it then be it

Ya - something about "assuming makes an a@# out of U and ME...." I NEVER assume ANYthing...HA, yeah right!!

SO anyway, Matty, like I suggested - maybe it's the weight of the mods. What did you add?

Ah, but be very careful, young grasshopper....The autobahn is NOT un-restricted everywhere! And the cameras they have now can pretty much pick out every single freckle on your face. THey are VERY serious about their laws these days -- I actually had to take at least three soldiers' licenses permanently for doing dumb stuff on the German roads. (YES, i'm the same person who just said I did more than 150MPH...key is that I did it in unrestricted airspace and didn't get caught....!!)

Well, from what I know, the american ones are limited in the Revs at least, at 6,750 ish, but only cause they dont want you pushing it more than it is designed to do. When you install some mods in it, your revs can go up higher safely, but unless someone changed the limiter, it should still limit the total amount of revs. and really, when shifting, you want to keep the revs in the sweet spot for power, so going too high will only slow you down a tad.

Noted.... I have lived here for 5 years, my first ticket was 500 euro and 7 points I learned which Autobahns were unrestricted really fast
why were you concerned about getting caught in a unrestricted place...was it because of weather/road conditions

I wasn't always on unrestricted areas. But I didn't say that.

Sorry. I work with **** and someone here joked about how it sounds so I got carried away and used the word here. Didn't mean to disrespect Europe.

You must be a drug tester huh? No apologies needed, I was born American.
The car had a CAI, #3in Turbo back, and the Autohaus Krauth had updated my ECU, not really sure why, but the car ran really rich for a week (more than usual) then he cleared his lungs. THe coolest thing about these german dealers is they do not markup your vehicle history. There is no record of any aftermarket tuner parts, just the few warranty items

matty125 it seems like you just answered you original thread question with the parts added and updating the ECU.

Also most cars come with speed regulators so they won't exceed the speed rating of the tires on the vehicle for legal reasons.

I didn't know the speed was limited either. I just thought the S ran out of power before it got to redline in top. If it did manage to get to redline in 6th, it'd be doing somewhere around 153, which would be faster than the speed rating of the tire. The S seems to come with V rated tires, which are rated at 149, but the specs say the top speed is 139.

Well, I'm ok with that. I got my Audi A4 up to 130mph and I thought I was going to teleport back with the Doc and Marty. I don't recommend that speed at all. Feels like your world is going to explode at any moment and things are flying by way too fast.

I could live happily with 139.
