How does Fluid Silver interior look?

I am wondering how the Fluid Silver interior looks. I understand that the Fluid Silver is plastic...does it really look like plastic?

Also, has anybody seen how closely the FS matches the Pure Silver exterior? The samples at the dealer seemed to look like an exact match.

Finally, is the brushed metal interior a better look with Pure Silver exterior (which I understand is real metal, but comes with non-brushed door rings)?

Too many choices...so little time...

Thx!

I was choosing between the same trims and went to the dealer to see them. The fluid silver looks plasticky and cheap. The brushed alloy looks like $$$, has a great texture. I went with the brushed alloy and didnt give the fluid silver another look.

The fluid silver looks like the glossy plastic like on the R53s, but brighter.

That's what we did.

We'd disagree with that, all 4 of our MINIs have had fluid silver trim, we like it.

fluid looks much cheaper to me than the brushed a (maybe because it is). so i went with the brushed. i have to look at the dash every day i get into my car, no reason not to spend the extra $$$ to make it worth getting into and looking quality

I personally LOVE it. I also have the dark grey colorline to go with it. It hides fingerprints very well, and looks very sharp IMO. You be the judge. More pics in my gallery.

I also love mine, I think the oak and piano black are not my style, if i wanted wood i would have bought a BMW, as for the black very cheap to me.

That's funny, my last four BMW's have had everything other than wood.

My recent BMW is brushed aluminum and my MSC is also, no fingerprints!

So true... I have brushed aluminum in my M Roadster and love it. IMO, Its the only interior trim in the MINI that doesnt look either fake or cheap....and less fingerprints!!!

I disagree that the piano black interior looks cheap. I think what looks cheap is a matter of personal taste and I have to be honest, when I first got it, I wasn't 100% sure that I liked the interior of my car, but since I bought off the lot and was able to drive it home that day, I didn't complain about it. My interior is entirely black, black seats, dark gray color line, piano black interior surface and initially I thought it was too dark. I've heard several comments that it turns the interior of the car into a coffin, but now that I've had it a few months, I love it. The sunroof brings in light and makes the PB finishes sparkle in the mornings and it leaves me with a great big smile. Now, I love it... until someone gets in that hasn't let their sunblock dry...

I think the OP should definitely head to the dealer and look at several examples of interior surface options. There are a lot of interior finish choices and I don't think any of them look good on the configurator. Go see them in person and decide for yourself.

Thank you everybody for the awesome feedback. That is the great thing about this forum - everybody is open with input....and the great thing about the Mini - it really is about personalizing to everybody's own taste.

What are the door rings used with the brushed alloy? Are they the same or are they plastic etc.?

I really appreciate the help!

I have the brushed alloy with white line and Tuscan beige interior... it came with the silver/grey plastic ring and kind of blends in with the alloy... I'd rather have all brushed alloy.

Ditto on Mako,,, my last 3 bimmers have all been custom orders, I quit buying off the lot about 5 years ago.. we pay too much for a car not to get exactly what we want, down to the last detail, and more importantly not to pay for anything we don't want. Also, more leverage on pricing.

Jimatvs, I don't have my car yet (haven't seen a MINI in many months now) but I imagine the door rings (and vents, and speedo and tach) are all plastic just matched to your interior, I ordered the chromeline interior for $200 extra I think, they were originally going to be gray, but I wanted to make the black interior pop.

I saw the fluid silver at the dealer.
I went with the stock checked silver.
Passengers always comment on it.

Our first MINI came with the fluid silver trim - liked it enough to order it on the wife's Clubman. I like the contrast between the mostly dark interior and the silver accents - and the 'brushed aluminum' back then just looked dirty all the time to me (it has improved quite a bit since then). I also think that the piano black looks excellent with the Tuscan interior. However, on my soon-to-arrive MCS, I ordered the Tuscan interior (thanks to LadyG's gorgeous interior shots) with the brushed trim.

Thx for the thoughts. Good luck on a smooth delivery!

Here's the brushed trim, in case anyone doesn't know what the difference is. You can see the texture reflects light differently.

That's one of the best overall interior pics I've seen of the brushed alloy and how it works with the door rings! Very nice looking

Thx for posting
