There's an amazing book:

http://www.miniusa.com/crm/book_of_m...f_motoring.jsp

This is why I spent $28,800 for a 2 door car when I could have spent $11 K.
Motoring. Save the Wave, NAM. The culture of MINI.

Bless you all for holding the line, perpetuating this amazing culture.
CLICK THE LINK....Check out the book of motoring, its Amazing.

Just realize Lots of people on NAM ARE VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT OUR CARS JUST AS MUCH AS ANY ITALIAN , GERMAN, OR BRITISH EXOTIC OWNER WOULD BE. It upsets me to see people like you believe that only MINI owners care about and obsess over their cars and everyone else treats theirs as an appliance..
Open your eyes, there are non-mini drivers everywhere who feel/care as much about their car as you do. And i must say, it's not a bad thing

I think people in areas that you have to parallel park
are upset because people in POS's, SUVs, or non caring
people, use their minis as backstops when trying to
parallel park. There's been quite a few posts here along those
lines. I don't have to parallel park but I understand the
irritation of having your door dinged that's why I park on
the back forty everywhere. But these people are not getting
dinged. They are having their bumpers and hoods and trunks
batter to all heck.

If I had to parallel park every day and knowing I would be getting
smashed 4 times a day, I would fabricate up something like....
<trying to give image> those bicycle racks that neatly snap
into a tow thing, under the bumper. But it wouldn't be so high
as that, and wouldn't be for hanging bikes. It would be a 1 ft
high steel beam with maybe a steel plate 12 x 18 welded onto it.
On that I would then weld spikes. Not iron maiden spikes gonna
kill somebody if the trip and fall against your car. But maybe
3 inch bolts sticking out about 20 of them so somebody gives
you one of those bumper kiss things it tears up their grill or at
least scratches the paint on their tailgait.

Of course it would be removable but not with a cotter pin
so it couldn't be taken off and smashed through my windshield,
but maybe one of those round secure key locks.

I now thinking this through, you should also install front
and rear little cameras that record to a hidden DVR or something.
Just in case.

I don't have to parallel park though.

If you're just doing it for bling or to look scary I think
mounting a replica M60 on the roof would be a better idea.
You could make it move around by remote control.

Tip-Top Shape

I like to keep my MINI in tip-top shape, so each night I just put it back in the box it came in...

This made me laugh, how about something that would scratch the words "Maybe you shouldn't have hit that MINI" Into their paint if they hit you.

I think people need to realize what a MINI is before the put all this assorted "stuff" on it. This is not a FORD F-350. Mods are okay to a certain degree, but this is not going through the Saharan Desert or the Amazon River Basin. This is a fun car for driving on ROADS. Just keep that in mind ;-)!

just also remember that there may be a few of us who have no choice
but to drive through and parallel park in nyc street where people dont
care if they nudge ur car.

I like that chrome nudge bar, and having to park in NYC sometimes, I might just get it! Around here many people have those rubber flaps that hang out of your hatch or trunk to protect your bumper. If you remember to put it back in when you leave the spot, you'd never know you had it.

also, that Motoring book was great. And the "diner page" has the Lyndhurst diner's sign- my favorite local diner. I'll try to get a photo of the sign with my MCS in frame when I get it.

This is a great modification for herding cattle. Otherwise, buy a border collie.

I may be missing something here... correct me if I'm wrong... but isn't it the car THEY bought? Not my place to say if it's right or wrong if someone wants to put a big piece of craap on thier car.... More power to them....

FWIW, there were some Minis modified for a long off-road treck with a lift and big balloon tires... Kinda cool when it was all said and done...

See Any Jeep enthusiast for examples of this. And a jeep is a long way from motoring, the wranglers are inefficient, square, unreliable, and can't hold much more than a mini, but go tell that to someone in the jeep culture like myself and ask why I drive a '90 wrangler... It sure ain't for the fuel economy, its because theres something about being behind the wheel of those vehicles with the doors and roof off that is just a hell of a lot of fun.

I was going to say no...
but now that we have the MINI dictators in here trying to tell people what is and isn't OK to do to their car, I say go for it. It's a car, not a cult.

I think I might just mount a couple ox horns on the front of my MCS, put on some 10" gold wire-spokes, and instead of waving, I'll flip off other mini owners. Or at least any who seem like they are taking their choice of transportation too seriously.

Yes indeed... there's many "don't take your car so seriously" types out there who are in agreement with you.
