I get to work last night, get out of my car, and have this odd sense that something's missing.

Some cheeseweasels peeled half of the decals off of my car.

What the hell, people?

Who does that?

"Bunch of savages in this town."

And it wasn't just a random hit. They picked certain ones in various spots. I'm now short a Red Wings logo, my Wall Drug bumper sticker, and Andre the Giant's head.

Those might have just been the ones that came off easiest. You can see places on the others where they started to peel them and stopped. So now they'll probably come off too the next time I wash it.

They left some very nice looking fingerprints on the glass, but I don't think the police are really going to care enough to dust them.

"I'll just check with the boys down an the crime lab. They've got four more detectives working on the case. They got us working in shifts!"

I guess it could have been much, much worse. As far as I can tell the paint's fine, and they didn't try to do anything real obnoxious like peel off the stripes or the clear bra. My antenna topper's still there, and nothing was smashed or stolen. But still...

So. Very. ANGRY.

I'm currently rockin' the night shift, so my plan right now is to try to calm down and go to sleep. Then maybe I'll take some pictures of the aftermath.

A more normal person would probably take opportunity to put some different ones back on, but since I'm OCD I'm going to just replace them. Luckily I ordered more than one of the Wings logo in case I screwed up the application. Unfortunately I'm nowhere near Wall, South Dakota anymore, and that Andre the Giant sticker I got sometime in high school. (That was, sadly, a long time ago.)

Sounds like some kids collecting stickers. At least they didn't break anything or do malicious damage. Perhaps you need stickers that go inside the windows.

Sorry about your mini!! At least it was just the vinyl and they didnt key your car or anything, but that still really stinks!!!

 

I've had things stolen/damaged and it is just infuriating. My stuff...keep your hands off! I'll take some heat for this but somebody has to say it...Andre the Giant head, Red Wings, and Wall Drugs stickers...could be looking at a net positive with these things off the Mini. Vandalism or detailing?

Modnar, I am so very sorry to hear of the vandalism to Boris. File a police report & request that they dust the fingerprint marks--just for the record--mainly because punks start out small and then "advance" to more costly vandalism the longer they go without getting caught until they eventually DO get caught.

 

It might be because there are more MINIs around.

Well, I don't do stickers either (other than "Actual Size"), but everyone should be able to personalize their MINI.

I meant don't put them on and if they get torn off, they won't damage the paint.

Thanks for the commiseration everyone. Thanks to the awesome powers of the Internet I've got a new Wall Drug sticker on the way. Hopefully it won't happen again (or escalate to something worse).

I'm tempted to park a little bit closer at work now, but it's a trade off. Do I want to be vandalized, or subjected to door dings and scrapes? Somehow my previous car got a dent put in it - on the curb side of the car. Maybe I've got enemies.

I've got a mixture of inside and outside ones, but if they were really dedicated collectors they'd just smash the windows. I'm vainly hoping that whatever punk did it is at least getting some use out of them instead of just throwing them away.

Or maybe a roving pack of feral Avs fans. Or possibly my boss, who's now a very, very bitter Pens fan.

It's empty now, but maybe I need to start packing heat. Or mod the alarm so that it electrifies the exterior.

And you know what's really irking me? I would have actually been thankful if they'd gone after the Pynchon novel one that I ripped a tiny corner off of when I was installing it. I've been looking for an excuse to replace it with a new one. Curses!
