My wife's Clubman has sport leatherette seats, and my new MCS has Tuscan Beige. Both are fairly firm; which I prefer for long trips. I don't really notice a decided advantage either way. I did order the Tuscan to lighten up the interiour, rather than for the leather, and it definitely does lighten things up, so I am happy with the choice. I am a little worried about its long-term durability however. My first MINI, an '03 R53, had leather sport seats that showed significant visible wear at 40,000 miles.

Also, we live in a relatively cool climate (70 is a hot day for us); I'm not sure I would want leatherette if I was driving in 90-100 degree heat all summer long.

My previous lease was a 335i coupe with sport seats and leather package. My current MCS has punch carbon leather and we did 800 miles round trip last weekend, a trip that we make a few times a year. My wife and I both thought the MCS seats were more comfortable for the long trip. When we got back I had to call the dog to drag me out of the car and into the house though....spent half a day in a squat painting sealer on the roof of my dad's steel building and then the next day was the six hour drive home.

I ordered some leatherettes for my 09. Glad to hear that they are pretty comfortable and stuff. Also i was concerned about how real leather tends to wear over time... Im hoping these are a little more durable.

It was a choice between the Carbon Punch seats and the Aero Kit.... i got the kit...

I got the leather/cloth blue seats, and love them. Comfy and the leather seems thick and durable. Sure it's not soft or silky, but it's comfy enough.

I found this was instrumental in keeping the driver/passenger from sliding forward on the seat when decelerating.
It still does in the R56.

I bought the sidewalk edition because it was the sofffffft English leather that I fell in love with.. YUMMY!!!!!! And its sooooo damn comfortable and smells really nice. The standard leather is ok... but if you are going to buy leather, go for the top grade.. makes all the difference.

I am 6ft tall and 270lbs. I take my seat comfort as 9.5/10 insofar as a deal breaker for me in a car. My seats rank a 9.8.

Enough said!

I got leatherette seats in the MCS.
First time I ever got a car with leatherette.
Was always either cloth or leather.

From June '08 (when I picked it up) until now, they're not bad.
I don't see any stretch marks like you would see on leather.
It's pretty easy to clean... wife spilled coke on the seat... Thank god for rubber floormats too.
It's supportive... to an extent. Nothing like my Recaros in my car though.
The material doesn't look as cheap as I thought it'd be. It actually looks pretty classy.
It's comfortable and easy to get in and out of.

I love my '09 MCS sport seats with the checker cloth material. I'm not a fan of leather or the fake leather.

Leatherette sport seats. They're great. They look nice, they're easy to clean, and they're comfortable -- even with my annoying back problems, they're the most comfortable car seats I've ever sat in. They have plenty of lumbar support, IMO.

There is the back sweat problem on hot days, although that's why God invented air conditioning.
