I dont know for sure what the difference is between standard dark gray color line and the dark gray color line you pay $250 for

BUT if i was to guess i think the dash is covered in a sort of leather/leatherette. My color line dash part is like a plastic. If i was to re-do it i would definitely find out waht the difference is and if the $250 is for the leather feel - i would probably do it.

Bananas, thanks for taking the time to go above and beyond (going back to the online configurator) so that you could give me the most accurate response. You're probably right about the defaults/standard color line would probably be best with the standard leatherette seats. Thanks again!

In the online configurator, if you select the dark grey color line, the armrests in the picture get slightly lighter, so I guess they're lighter than the standard color line.

Bananas, which one do you think would be best with my other choices?

It would be hard for me to trust the configurator on MiniUSA, especially for color of interior. Best bet would be to go to your Mini dealer and ask them to show you the difference on a car they have on the lot.

Either that.... or find someone who owns a mini near you to show you their interior!

I went to the dealer and compared many of the options I decided on. I would recommend that option to anyone!

please excuse the fact that I'm a real novice. I know that I might come off here appearing to be totally ignorant, but please tell me what IMO stands for - thanks!
In My Opinion.

Awww you're welcome, happy to help out!

Ok, so if it were me, given that they're both grey and if I were choosing the default seats, I'd likely go with the default color line too because I would think that the standard color line would match the seats. I think the dark grey color line might actually be intended to go with the rooster red lounge seats (I think it matches the piping on the seats, like how the cream color line matches the piping on the black lounge seats). However, I have no idea if they have a different texture - definitely check it out at a dealer if you can, they should have swatches on the wall even if they don't have a car with that config for you to look at. Or if you call a dealer they'd surely tell you if one has a different texture than the other.

I was just struggling with the anthracite question on my (soon to be ordered) MCS, with exactly the interior options mentioned at the beginning. I'm glad I found this thread - I'm adding anthracite to my order list immediately!

Thanks for all the photos and insights, guys!

i was disappointed because I misread anthracite as alcantara :(

The headliner is just black, nothing too special. My car doesn't have a sunroof. The ceiling bulges up where the sunroof would have been.

It does pull everything together harmoniously though....

Excellent combo. Sunroof takes off an inch or more of headroom, BTW.

I did that exact combo. Inside is completely blacked out.

I love it. Wouldn't have done it differently.

Only gripe is using the secret compartment- I put my garage door opener in there and the finger print on piano black is noticable, but hey, why sweat the small stuff. pretty minor, imo.

I like the anthracite but the piano black show nothing but fingerprints.

I don't have either but my boy complains about the prints non-stop.

I keep my hands off the piano black trim and if I see a print I wipe it off. I'm usually the only one in the car. I think dust is the bigger concern.

But I'll put up with it because I like it.

My wife has the aluminum trim in her car and I like that as well.

I got the cloth seats, because the black looked better than the grey with the piano and anthracite.

Could anyone post side by side pictures of the standard headliner vs the anthracite one?

Thanks
