Are the tires on the Challenge Spoke wheels in fact run-flats, or are they just performance tires? The website does not say run-flat, but my MA's sales manager says they are run-flat.

Heh, I was just thinking of asking the same thing. I like the Challenge Spoke wheels a lot better, but if they're not runflats then they're out of the question for me.

I'm the opposite way. I do not want runflats. If they are not I'll get a second set of 16" wheels (if they fit) and use them for track in the summer and snow tires in the winter. The challenge spoke would be used for regular driving.

Here we go again Check out the other JCW thread we had this discussion. I thought they were not runflat but was corrected on my error. The configurator does not specifically list it but all the official literature does list run-flat.

Sorry, I didn't happen to read that thread (or if I did I forgot ). Anyway, I always do a search and read through results before starting a new thread on a question I have, but to expect that the same be done every time for simple questions relevant to an existing thread is a bit extreme, don't you think? IMHO

I think it's the massive fender gap that accentuates the fender gap...

It seems unusually high. My hope is it will settle 'a bit' after driving & compressing the suspension some.

... argh ... I see those get'n swiped when I park @ malls or movie theaters or etc... I hope being a JCW owner I'll be able to order more to replace them [what's the chance they'll cost $20 and not $200! ]

speedo (160mph) is still dissapointing

the euro speedo is chock full of stuff and is closed in look to the r53 speedo. The US speedo is so empty without the kms/needles. I hoped they would sport it up a bit and restore the kms for that bomber cockpit look.

I didn't mean to imply you had not done your research on it, I was saying that humorously since the discussion revolved around my mis-statement. Didn't mean that comment in a negative way

Partsman said earlier in the thread the wheel gap looks unusually big because the shipping spacers were still in the springs.

No problem...but getting runflats is a bummer. Hate they way they ride. Now I need to figure out the tire situation. I may just get all season non runflats for the OEM wheels (sell the OEM run flat tires), and then get a set of cheaper, lightweight 16" wheels for the track with some R-Comps.

Anyone know whether 16" rims will fit over the JCW brakes?

the stock rims are fairly light and I the rotors are close to 12.4" in the front and with the calipers I would be surprised if they fit a 16" wheel

As far as I'm aware MINI are branding this as the MINI John Cooper Works and it's not mentioned anywhere as a Cooper S, even if that's what it is I think I read that's why Gabe of motoringfile had the Cooper S badge removed from his.

Looks awesome, thanks for sharing

You're welcome and you're right, as I found out after doing some research. It's somewhat like the "M" for BMW.

They're handing them out, I picked mine up at 3pm today in Toronto!!!!! Was told I was the first in Canada, but who knows I only did the deal on Saturday and snapped it up only I heard it was already in storage. Was a little worried about having th factory aero kit, but I think it looks great.... see here http://www.flickr.com/photos/pjappy/...7606209418356/

Very cool that you can get body color wheel arch trim with the factory aero kit.

The cars amazing, I when straight from the dealer for a 450km drive to start the break-in. But the torque is amazing even low in the revs, it's gonna be seriously quick around the back lanes.

Yea I was worried that the might be black, the dealer said the for some reason they think the Clubman will have black arches.

Picking up mine tomorrow and plan on taking a nice long drive aswell. May not sleep tonight. By the way don't mean to be a pedant but I noticed your pics are labelled as "MINI Cooper S John Cooper Works", there shouldn't be an 'S', it's just a JCW.

I guess I'm just a "the glass is half empty" kind of guy. Did anybody else notice the chrome trim around the grille? Well there's something else to add to my list of changes.
