Issues with 2009s

Hello everyone,

I am getting ready to order my mini and the dealer is taking orders for 09 MC's. I have heard that the cars that are new in that production year have had issues in the past. What are you guys experences with this? Anybody have the first of the new year good/bad expereinces?

Thanks,

Dell

2009 models are NOT out yet. No one would know. If you are referring to the '08's, I'm sure a quick search here will give you more info. Good luck with your order!

Some are already out

The JCW I saw yesterday at my dealer is a 2009 model....

The configuator should be updated here soon with new prices colors or pak tweaks if any. MINI is notorious for announcing a new model production but not updating that goofy configger. I would guess by month's end when the first allotments are issued to the dealers.

And I wouldnt sweat MY-MY issues, because the 2009 is NOT a major makeover, as was 2004 to 2005 MY where yes there were build quality issues with 2005s built the first three months (july, aug and sept 2004) like my lovable little aug 2004 build chili red lemon.

Just enjoy the experience, and dont sweat the small stuff.

It's usually more to do with the first year of a new design rather than the first cars for a particular year. In this case, the 2009 model is so closely related (if at all different) to the 2007 design that there shouldn't be any issues.

The JCW cars are 2009, but the other models are still 2008 model year production for another month or two.

I'm curious about this as well. I'm not so worried about issues with build quality and reliability as I am with wanting to get the latest-available MY MINI!

I'm supposed to order one this coming Thursday, July 17th. Will it be an '08 or an '09?

That will vary with different dealers. If the dealer has sold out his 2008 allotment, it will be a 2009. You need to check with your dealer.

Bear in mind that the convertible is a new model (R57) in 2009... but even then, many of the elements will be identical to its hardtop cousins, so you should only have to worry about the "unique to convertible" stuff as being a potential problem.

Thanks for the replies! I meant to thank you earlier, but I was at work and (duh) forgot my password! Someone say "noob?" LOL

Anyway, I checked with my dealer today and my MA said that his superior told him the '09s won't be arriving at (their) dealer until November. He said if I wanted an '09, I could wait and order one in September.

I said "NO WAY! I can't wait THAT long!"

Is it a common fact to have first three month model year defects?
I don't think so, when it's a minor MY improvement.

I agree with previous posts, describing 2004 building-MY 2005 (major restyling + mods) as the less reliable production. But MY not interested by major update like the upcoming 2009 will have only some package improvement, software new release (hope cold start issue to be fixed...), different colours and maybe !!!! i m p r o v e m e n t s !!!! and not further troubles.

What do You think abt this???????? What is your experience???????
