R56 The Official "I don't have rear fog lights but my Cooper is still great" thread
I plan on ordering our MC with the rear foglight, I just don't like the black plastic filler panel, but I can see how those without a fog light could care less.
The thing with this thread that gives me a chuckle is the suggestion that it's wasting $100...even the most basic of MINI's runs about $20k, so that option represents one half of one percent, so it's not exactly a bank breaker

^^Money is all relative and many of us have budgets when purchsing big-ticket items like cars. While an extra $100 might seem like nothing to you, someone else out there was struggling to get their car under $25k and , yes, $100 items like rear fogs and white turn signals had to be sacrificed to get under that budget while getting all the features that they absolutely wanted. If you think of it from that perspective $100 on rear fogs for someone who doesn't need them does seem like a waste of money.

I would submit though, that if $100 makes a difference on a $25k purchase, I personally would be looking at a cheaper car.

Leaving the Club
I am sitting in the Houston Mini, waiting to get the rear fog on my Clubman S. Many dealers say it cannot be done after the fact on Clubmans,
but the techs here in Houston are going ahead with it.
Nonetheless, I do not want to speak too soon, so I will let you know if they manage to get it installed and more importantly if it works!
Enjoyed my time in the club, but want to avoid getting rolled from behind by a Cadillace Escalade in the fog.

HUH?? i was just at a dealership and they had a brand spank'n new 09 Chili-Red JCW, it had NO FOG lights, just the standard Balck-out panels. I'd check-up on that if it's what you desire.

(Just kiddiing...kind of.)
Pet peeve on reduced visibility driving is when some drivers
turn on four-way flashers.
This would indicate a stopped
vehicle, so use those 'fog' lights instead. School buses have strobes on roof, that seems to work best in fog.
I have 'justacooper' and did not select front fogs either, low beams work for me and I may want to add a hitch and can't do it with a rear fog light.

So my nameless clubman is waiting at the dealer to have its "brain" reprogrammed.
More to follow
So here's the story - Mini of North America does not support a retrofit and will not obtain the programing from Europe. So...if it is not programmed in Europe, it will not work here. Well, that is the answer for now. More to follow; I hope.
I think it's great that many of you don't have buyer's remorse for not having purchased the $100 rear foglight option.
I got the rear fog lamp, but for a very bizarre reason; I ordered the front fog lamps and figured it would round out the package nicely. I hadn't even considered the potential "missing toggle" scenario! I figured the fog controls were built into the headlight switch or something. But now that you mention it, I guess it will be cool to have yet another toggle!
I also got the chrome package because I liked the way the chrome tied in with the grille on my "Justacooper." I kept looking at photos of the ones with and without the chrome, and in the end, just decided it looked more complete overall with the chrome trim.
The one thing I may have buyer's remorse over is not getting the Xenon headlamps. I think they look wicked and I would have loved to have them, but I'm hoping it won't make a difference to me once I take delivery of my car!

The saga continues. The dealer performed the install, which was supposedly a success, except that it does not work!!

. It must be one hell of a problem if they simply can't update the software.
Hummm, me not have rear fogs and my toggle layout is not complete because of it. Please, give me a real problem.
I've really given this no thought
until coming across this thread.
I do have that six hundred and some dollar front KC looking light thing going on instead. It even came with white plastic Mini covers.
Did I miss something when ordering?
Is there are thread concerning having these lights, and if you don't you missed out?

At least his toggle bank is full, kits available to make them extra stop/tailights as well.
1. What the heck does the dealership put in these cars for fuel? It ran choppy and sounded terrible and it only had 5000 ish miles.
2. I am sooo glad I did not buy that other MINI that had the leatherette seats! In 98 degree weather, even with the A/C on, I was sticking to them THROUGH my clothes.
3. I love the piano black interior surface. I don't care if it shows fingerprints and dust badly. It looks so much more luxurious than the plain old silver and gray interior. Please don't ever take this one away from me MINI!
4. Astro black is beautiful, but it attracts dust like nobody's business and the car didn't attract as much attention as Viola does. I didn't get a single wave or look from anyone until I got back behind Viola's steering wheel.
5. The xenon headlamps are *nice*. They look gorgeous on the car, and they do throw a bit farther. I will have them on my next MINI. The lack of them on Viola is my one and only regret, and in the future, if I get another MINI, it will have the xenon headlamps. That said, I love everything else about my pale and tragic Emo girl and I wouldn't trade her for any other MINI in the world.
Don't worry, when you get your MINI, you won't care about anything else.
The '04 models had the reverse light in the center of the lower valance. Starting in 2005, the reverse light moved to the tailight cluster and there was a single foglight [if orderd] in the center of the lower valance
