Annual Maintenance?

My 07 MCS is coming up for it's first maintenance this month. Besides changing the oil, what else is part of this? Do they update the software?

I just had my year anniversary maintenance done at Santa Ana BMW/Mini. If a year has gone by and your OBC is not showing any maintenance icons, you get an oil change. I don't think they do much else. The paper work said something about a visual inspection but who knows. I had 15,500 miles on my MCS 07 and because my OBC still says 4,000 miles to maintenance, this is what they call a "low milage service/oil change" which again is free for your yearly anniversary. I have to take my car back when the OBC says I need service and they will change the oil again, I think change the cabin filter and the other things they do under your 1st scheduled maintenance that is included. I will ask again what the 1st maintenance is due in about 4,000+ -miles. They also make sure not to set the OBC as the car apparently is not ready for maintenance until it tells you it is. Not sure if software is updated. I hope this helps.

I have 12.5K miles and OBC says 11000 miles to service. Next Thu is my 1 yr anniv. I would not go in but to keep the warranty intact, I will have to, won't I?

Yes, you should go in for the low mileage annual service. You are entitled to the yearly service under the initial service warranty. Take advantage of it while you can. You should then be able to go back in for the regular service when the OBC says it is due.

I took my car in for annual oil change about 3 weeks ago. I am pretty sure the only thing they did was an oil change b/c I was a few weeks early before my true annual visit. For the last week or so I have been seeing the "Service" light come on upon startup. Now the service light is staying on longer during startup (about 7 seconds compared to maybe 1-2 seconds when I first started seeing it). *** Also, have been noticing that the car has been stuttering lately. *** Does anyone know what that means? I read this other thread (https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...=service+light) about the other "free" checks that the dealerships are supposed to do during annual checks but was just wondering if anyone else experienced this a couple weeks after taking it in for free oil change? Or maybe I just need service for some other part of the car.
