Rear Fog BRIGHT bulb?

I remember reading a thread where one member said they had replaced the rear fog bulb with a brighter one, and uses it as a sort of "warning/back off" light for tailgaters. A (quick) search didn't turn up anything, but would like to try this mod! Anyone have any bulb recommendations? LED? Anything helps!

I did that, with these.

It is that bulb.
The lense light color remains red.
It does help.

As opposed to the brake light bulb upgrades.
The white bulb gives an orange-red, while
the red bulb gives a deep red-red.

The light remains amber if you use the white bulb
in the turn signals (just brighter)

The single most thing that has helped keep maniacs off me
was the www.gominigo.com third brake light modulator.

In fact, that has helped so much I am doing all my cars
(need different modulator for incandesant bulbs i think its like
$35 shipped, different site)

Keep in mind that using the rear fog for tailgaters is only effective at night. The interlock does not allow the rear fog to light unless the running lights are already on.

I have not found a 100% daytime solution.
Both times in the past 1.5 years I've been rear ended
(once in the mini minor once in the now totalled bmw 3)
i've been sitting for 1-2 minutes on clear sunny day
on a straight road) it's been in the daytime.

I think having the top brake light bulb be orange-red
and the bottom being red-red (there are two) has helped some.

I am for sure the blinking 3rd brake light has helped a lot.
That's why I am currently installing them on our entire fleet.

But I have not yet been able to come up with a 100% solution
for daytime cellphone talker no lookers.

I'm working on thinking something up though.
