MINI Demographics

As a sequel to an earlier thread I had started, ["Dude, Its a Chick Car..."] I am curious about the demographics of MINI owners. My suspiscions are that it appeals to all ages and genders equally.

Also, what car did you come out of to get into a MINI. Again I think it is a wide sprectrum of cars that people left to come into the MINI family and not particular style or make. Only share what you feel comfortable sharing.

As for me. I am a 44 year old married white male. Prior to this I was driving a 1994 4-door Honda Accord. I've always liked small cars and have had a 1979 Fiat Spider , 1988 Isuzu Impulse , 1994 Ford Ranger Splash , and various econboxes [Chevette and Omni] in my youth.

Well let's see.

29 year old, single, white, male (yes ladies, I'm available). I was driving a 1998 Isuzu Rodeo 4x4, I still have it and use it to haul things and not people around.

I have owned and loved a 1992 Mazda MX-3 V6 that I changed the engine out for a bigger one out of a Ford Probe. I've also owned and modded several Pontiac Fieros.

I think I might leave the MINI mostly alone, we'll see.

Very correct...there's no other way to say it!!

Also correct and this has been a bit of a surprise for me. I had a Sprite and a Spitfire back in the day and more recently a '91 Geo Metro, so a MINI was more or less a fulfillment of all I would have hoped for in handling, practicality, economy and fun...and with a good bit more quality and comfort than I was ever used to, too!! However, I am surprised how many owners come to MINIs from luxury or much more powerful cars. So the MINI seems to have a universal appeal based on demographics, but also on the types of cars owners come from.

23 year old male, (sorry ladies, taken)
1990 Honda Accord Sedan.

I was going to be buying an STi, however gas prices would own me. I'm of the belief that you should only drive what you need 90% of the time, and all I need is a cooper s....

36 year old male, married (another one bites the dust). I was driving a 97 BMW E36 M3 Sedan (deemed the best handling car for any cost at the time). My M had 140,xxx miles...it was time to say good bye.

I'm 24, im female...

I started off with my moms 95 honda accord when i was in high school. Then bought my first car by myself, which was a 2000 miata (which is what ruined me --to wanting small cars and convertibles). Due to the relocation of my job, and the increase in traffic, i had to get rid of my manual miata for an auto 2006 RSX. God bored of that (because it wasnt a convertible) and bought Alice, my 07' MCC

41, male
current car: 2007 MCS
previous cars:
78 Mustang V6 hatchback t-roof (POS)
85 Mercury Topaz 2-door sedan (not as crappy)
91 Honda civic 2-door hatch (great car, but slow)
2003 Acura RSX (nice, but not MINI)

The RSX was the first car I ever bought new. I thought it was a great car, but one test drive in the MINI ruined it for me.

Still haven't ordered my MINI yet...waiting to pay more off on my car...but when I do, I'm getting a Cooper S (chili red or lightning blue) with white top and white sport stripes. I'm a 38 white married female, 2 children (14 & 17), 2 dogs (lab & doby) and have owned several cars. Starting with high school...76 Toyota Celica, 86 Toyota Corolla Sport, 88 Jeep Wrangler, 2 Honda Accords, Volvo 960 wagaon, Jeep Wrangler Sport, Volkswagon Jetta, Saab 900, Saab 9-3, Jeep Grand Cherokee, and now my 06 Subaru Outback wagon. Can you tell I love cars?

28 year old married female, hubby is a bit older and has an '05 MCSC

After growing up in a Chevy family I traded in a Malibu ('04 maybe, I've blocked it out) for my MINI and the hubby traded in an '07 Toyota FJ Cruiser for his. We now have the two MINIs and a Silverado for winter driving/big stuff.

74 year old grandfather, married, retired. My new MCS replaced a 2006 Porsche 911S, which was sold prior to buying the MCS. I still have a 2005 Porsche Cayenne S which I plan to hang onto. Grandma drives a 2008 BWM 535xi. The 911S was my 5th 911, but it'll be my last -- too difficult for these old bones and bad knee to get in and out of it (not a problem with the MCS).

Here are some more data points on the age demographic. Me, I'm in my late 20s, single, male, and my last car was my first car-- a 2000 Nissan Sentra.

Since I gave the car to my wife last month and sold hers...
She's a semi-white Brazilian-American female, over 29.

I can tell you from experience, Mini owners are a very white group overall...
Isn't it funny how some vehicles are very demographic-specific. Same goes for my Jeep crew. My motorcycle group was even worse.
Anybody want to poll Escalade owners?

A bit older?!
Is this the same guy I met at MOTD? I thought you were his daughter...
Just kidding.

Well I'm 45 divorced with 13 year old daughter (HELP) and I have always owned something small like my 67 VW, 78 Honda Civic,
58 ****** Jeep, 82 Toyota Corolla SR5, 92 BMW 325is, 94 Mazda MX3, 94 Jeep Wrangler, 03 Jeep Rubicon and too many
motorcycles to list from Highschool till just a few years ago when I decided that 7 accidents all caused by unattentive automobile drivers was enough.

Now I'm a diehard 07 MINI Cooper S Cabrio driver and my daughter (if she behaves) will be one also.
I don't know what I'll be driving 20 years from now because I don't really care for the direction that BMW is going with the MINI's.
Just a side note: If I was still married that MINI would have been almost impossible to have purchased.
I only sold my 92 BMW because my (ex)wife thought it was not what a married man should be driving.

22 yr old male. Recent college grad. I came from a highly modded Mazda Miata that was just getting to ridiculous to drive daily. I also needed something a little bigger
