17" ASA AR1 Wheels

Is TireRack the only freakin' place in America that sells this wheel for the Mini? They keep changing their in stock date back and every search I do for it sends me back to TireRack.

I feel for you. I ordered them in February and they have been pushed back from April to now the end of June. I can't find anyone with them in stock.

You may want to look for other wheels. I currently have a set on my '04, and although I like the looks of them, the clear coat on the polished outer edge is falling off and they look like crap after only one year .

Well, I suppose thats what we get for ordering relatively cheap wheels. Anyone ever have experience with Drag wheels from Discount Tire? Specifically the DR19?

I sure am glad I read this note. I have been looking for a set of wheels and think the AR1's are sharp. And I was wondering how they can make them and sell them at such a low price for an almost look alike BBS wheel. Now I know. Thanks, no AR1's for me.

That sucks.

I wonder if its a defect, rather than normal wear. Its the first complaint I've read on them and I did a lot of poking around before I bought mine ...which are a year old and don't look much different than the day I got them.

Dean.

I'm in the paint business and it appears that the polished areas were not properly prepped before the clear coat was applied. I'm stripping the clear and painting the outer lip black with a red pin stripe.

Drag Wheels

I have the Drag wheels and I think they look great. I paid $105 each and have been very satisfied with them.

My wheels are 17 inch. I still do not like the amount of wheel gap I have, the tires are 205/45/17's. If I were to do it again, I would go with tires that are just a bit taller, like a 50 series to help fill the wheel well a bit more. But I really do like these Drag wheels.

I got Enkei's last year for $70.04 each from Discount Tire Direct --- I stalked their site until they had a closeout sale on something good....

Good to know! I considered this wheel very briefly but they don't come in 16"s.

I'm ordering the SSR Type C's soon though!
