R56 Anthracite headliner and sunroof?
I love it not so much from an attraciveness option but a practical one. With aging eyes (I'm 48) I've found that the anthricite helps me see. My prior car was an Integra with black seats/dash/floor but light gray pillars/headliner. My current car (my mini is on the ship) is an Intrepid. Entirely grey interior. All our cars have sunroofs (the non-minis have blackout screens). My wife's mini has the anthricite. Her previous mini did not. So I've pretty much seen just about every configuration.
What I've come to realize is that I don't need to wear sunglasses in the current mini. The anthricite eats enough of the ambient light that I'm not being blasted with lumens during the day. In all the other cars, it's like I'm squinting almost all the time without the clip-on sunglasses.

Here's my take - yes, the Antracite headliner finishes it off nicely.
If I had the sunroof, I'd get it for sure. Without the sunroof, I actually like the fact that the gray headliner makes the interior a little bit lighter.

There are pictures of both headliner options with sunroofs in this thread:

Haven't received my mini yet and already regret not getting an Anthracite headliner. I didn't have a clue that it was an important feature until the car was already built and on its way. I'm mad at my dealer for not pointing it out and me for not doing my homework!! I know the Tuscan Beige interior I ordered would have been much classier with it. I do feel, however, that if I hadn't read about it I would have never missed it. In fact, I had to go out to our other two cars to look at their headliners. I had never noticed that both of the cars(not Mini's) have a standard grey headliner too. Ignorance, after the fact, can be bliss!!
Thanks for the pix Minidriver. By the way, Seaside High School class of '86!
After reading everything on this site, the one thing I find to be a given is the anthracite headliner. Everybody says get it, the best/cheapest upgrade for the interior. My question is do you still get it if you are getting a sunroof? And I still have not really seen what it looks like - compared to the standard headliner.
It's all about your personal tastes. I wish people would be more careful making comments about not being worth it. But most people do qualify that stance by saying it's only their opinion, which is all this is...mine.

Thanks for the positive thought on AH. I do feel lucky to be an owner of a Mini no matter the configuation. Yahoo!!
