Sweet deal on 2007 MCS

Hey All,

Thought I'd share this with the group - a new MINI for my girlfriend. There was a 2007 MCS w/ low miles that looked like a pretty good deal. It had been listed on cars.com for just under $22K out on Long Island.. Once I called in to talk it over, they tried to mark it up w/ various fees but I turned all those down, and got them to stick with their asking price for "driving it off the lot" and negotiated the whole thing over the phone a few days ago.

We drove out today (a good 90 miles or so), to take it for a spin and see that the exterior etc was all in order. Indeed it was. A 2007 MCS in Lightning Blue / black roof in great condition w/ only 4200 miles, auto trans, premium package, cold package, alarm package, and alarm. The prior owner had traded it into the dealer and bought another car. A mere $22,000. Sweet.

Now, we're selling her 2005 Purple Haze MC with auto trans and 33,500 miles. Please let me know if you know anyone that would be interested. I've posted photos at www.patmedia.net/jkling17/mini.

Jeff

Jeff- How does your Pure Silver MCS handle with the LSD, but without the DSC?

Hi LazyT,

I'm still in my break-in period, and adjusting to life with a 6-speed, and so I am not quite yet starting to really push it hard through corners. I'm only at 300 miles or so.

The only observation that I might be prepared to made at this early stage is that torque pull seems much more even / controlled on my car (has lsd) than Amy's mcs on hard acceleration off the line. The car has shockingly good alignment. It seems to hold whatever line I put it on. I seriously doubt that I'm doing a whole lot right now that's leveraging the LSD. Part of the challenge is population and police density in my area - either I need to be careful or there's usually someone ahead of me that prevents me from planting it in 3rd gear on the curves. NJ sucks.

I'll happily provide my thoughts and qualify them accordingly - but please be aware that you would be well-advised to seek consul from other people on NAM that are more well-informed in this area than I, with thousands of miles of experience w/ their LSD.

However, I'd be really uncomfortable providing any definitive answer to you with only a few days in my new mcs and 2 weeks of mostly light driving in hers. So, please regard the above as more of an early impression than a truly informed viewpoint.

I have to say that I really do like Amy's auto trans mcs. If I had to have only one car, given the mix of stop-and-go that we have to do here in NJ/eastern PA, I'd seriously consider the auto. But I am fortunate that my MCS is my fun car and I still have my "beater" blazer .

Sorry that I can't provide a "better answer" for you. But, I'd rather advise you to get a really good answer to your question than give you a crappy one from me.

Rod - That's not his question.
