2008 or 2009?

I'm pretty sure I've on decided on getting a new mini. I have decided to wait a few months before taking the plunge though. I'm considering waiting till around July-August-September. The dealership told me the last month I can order an 08 is August and the 09 will begin order in September. My delima.... I am going to europe in October, I thought it would be sweet if I ordered my car in September I could possibly visit it in England at the plant. Should I wait to get the 09 or should I order in August getting the last of the 08?
Any advice would be appreciated. I don't know much about the 09's if anything is changing.... I basically need some expert mini owners advice!

Thanks!!

As far as I know there aren't any drastic changes between '08-'09 unless you're thinking about buying a convertible. If that be the case I'd definitely hold out for an '09

I say hold for 09 too if you can

I got wayyy too excited when I was buying my MINI...I didn't think I was goint too, but the dang things were on sale.

2009 may have some tweaks that were problems with the 08 (just a general thing with most car makers)...and I believe the 2009's have the color matched wheel arch and side skirt attachments...Can someone confirm?

That's only if you get the factory aero kit from what I've heard.

I think it depends on your car now. If you are going to get a MINI and the current car is having problems or it is getting poor gas milage maybe getting one now makes sense. If you don't have any of these then wait.

MINI has typically tightened things up a tad bit each model year, so if you plan to order and can wait, why not get an '09? At least you can brag on having a 50th anniversary MINI.

Were they still looking at adding stop light auto-on/auto-off and regenerative braking for '09?

Think this was the time frame mentioned in one of the Motoring File timeline articles from a year or so ago, but haven't heard any confirmation one way or the other.

I am currently in the process of selling my current car. Hopefully it sells soon just because I want to be one step closer to the mini.

It would be cool to have the 50th anniversary year one.

Does anyone know for sure they are manufactured only in England? I'd definitly like to time it right to visit the plant.

Current exchange rate should take care of the increase in price too.

Would not the exchange rate have the opposite affect. That the dollar is weak against the Euro , so it would cost more ?

Thats what I meant...dollar is way weaker against the British Pound and the Euro (not sure which one is used in terms of the MINI...being a British built Car owned by a German Company). Goods from Europe in general will cost us more to purchase here in the States.

Just be advised, the 2008 models began production the first week of December 2007. If the same holds true for the 2009 R56s, you're gonna have to wait till January of '09 before you can drive your car. There's no doubt that there will be some small refinements to the '09 model, but the main question is can you wait that long?

Dealer told me Saturday that if I order in September it will be an 09. Looks like he may be wrong. Ill have to look into that.

I can wait that long but I don't know if I want to. Haha
