Well, Im extremely proud to say that that I am one of those "****" that the person in your class is referring to. I would like to be the first to volunteer and invite that homophobic a@@clown in your class to come to one of the mini events and tell all the construction workers, laborers, professionals, steelworkers, pilots, servicemen, and policemen what his idea of a mini owner is. After that happens, I'll be glad to reach in my gay purse, and supply him with a Tide stick and a pink lace hankie so he can get the stains out of his shorts. BTW, this is 2008 and "***" is so 1985, we prefer "Mo" now!

I can see where the impression that the Mini is a "chick" or a "Mo" (you said it not me) car comes from. It's a "cute" car. A lot of women or alternative lifestyle people buy a Mini. It's just a fact. At least 50% of the people on this list are women and many that are proud to be gay. Go to a similar list for a Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, M3, Honda, or just about any other car and there are little to no women or gay members. Look how the cars are marketed. Look how the dealers are set up. Look at the stuff that came in the Mini Adventure Field Kit - trading cards, antenna ball, stick on words for your back window.
I hope no one takes offence to this, just a possible explanation to the Mini preception. Don't worry about what others think, I love my Mini S.

I love pulling the data that this test represents. Recently (late last year if I recall), there was a report, based on insurance data I think, that had deaths/100K miles driven. The miles had to be estimated but the death rate was accurate. Anyway it indicated that our MINIs did better at saving our lives than any other car in it's class as well as a couple of larger classes. But the kicker is when I tell people that they are safer in my MINI than in a 3 or 4 year old F-150 which the data shows. When I offer to get them the stats, they usually either shut up or discount the possibility that they might be valid ("all them stats lie!") or say "Really? - Hmmm".

You are right on the ball about that!
I got an E46 M3 with $30K+ mods and the car is beautiful.
People told me back when I was single, "man... you must be able to pick up sooo many chicks with that car."
In reality... it's quite the opposite. Driving on the road, I've only seen guys ever look and point at the car and only guys ask about the car.
Out of the 3 years of ownership... I've only ever had one chick off the street come up to me and say, "that's a hot car."

The Mini on the other hand... before the car has even arrived yet, I've got my wife's friends all asking for a ride. Perhaps I should've gotten this car before. haha.

But yea... test driving the car was what totally changed my mind about Coopers. I just wish my wife would learn a stick shift and get a "proper" car.

the mini is just a awesome car . it doesnt matter where your from or what you do. after you drive one your hooked. it took only one test drive in a 03 mcs around the block and it was my sisters boy friends car . yeah i made a couple of comments to him and the drive slammed my mouth closed. i traded my nissan in a week after that. it was for a 04 dark silver and black mcs. i started modding it a month later. i loved that car. for some stupid reason i traded that car in for a 06 honda civic lx four door for the better gas mileage. i hated that car . after driving a mini it stood no chance. it really sucked not having power and performance . the gas mileage wasnt good enough either. i had that car for a year and hated everyday i had it. so i had enough and got to a mini dealership and drove away in a 07 mcs . im happy now. first thing i did was get the exhaust done and i havint stopped yet. i love my chick mo clown car and you can have my man card . its ok i have a whole bunch of them.

I think that might be the best response listed here yet, I'm going to have to use that one myself. I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of comments with my Laser blue Mini

More seriously - the MCS reminds me so much of my first car, a 1972 BMW 2002. Fast, efficient, small, and nobody knew much about them (back then). The local pony cars couldn't keep up on the twisties.
Solid, too - that BMW was totaled while I sat in traffic, waiting to be hit by some big old Plymouth.
Can't wait to get my Dark Silver w/black roof and mirrors (no stripes).

During the strip cruise at AMVIV I was on the sidewalk by the Paris when some large, drunk, mis-informed inDUHvidial shouted at all the MINIs passing by "Hey where's the gay pride parade?!" much to the delight of his girlfriend...

I responded simply "It's in your neighborhood"

Both of them got quiet

I asked a question on "yahoo Answers' and more females preferred riding in a Jeep then a Mini. However a large percentaged would rather drive in something more expensive then a Jeep and Mini Put together..

I want one of these Minis just for the sheer sake it drives and rides like a race car.. Plus you got all those crazy little racer accessories. The car won me over a more faster more refined and equiped GTI... Honestly i would rather be at a stoplight in a Mini and bad *** musclecar pulls up next to me, and i would not feel intimated . Now if i was in a GTi i would be somewhat embarrassed because the car is marketed to be more "serious",, but yet its still only 200hp and couldnt scare a flee.. The Mini is more of a blast to drive over the GTi,,, it has outstanding road feel, the GTi i drove was new fahrenheit and had DSG,, the DSG to me sucks in town during regular driving.. the only time its any good is when your beating on it(maybe the car wasnt broken in yet 140miles total)

the only thing that is stopping me from getting one is my Jeep is still perfectly good.. in a year or two when my Jeep is paid for i may just buy a Mini as a forth vehicle just for gas mileage sake.. Lord knows gas will be $5 a gallon here soon

I believe it was said best in Chasing Amy, "Deny... Deny... Deny."

Sexuality researcher Kinsey noted that often the most homophobic people he interviewed were those with the strongest homosexual urges whilst those who were comfortable in their sexuality didn't feel the need to scream loudly to draw attention away from what they perceived as their own shortcomings.

You drive a Mini, it kind of makes a statement about how comfortable you are with yourself.

You drive a muscle car, grunt loudly and scream at everyone about how macho you are, what do you think that's really saying?

Just a thought: over polished muscle cars, exposing their awesome manliness revving to establish themselves... guys who spend too much time at the gym, waxing every square inch and wearing muscle shirts, flexing in front of the mirrors while other guys watch. Coincidence?

I doubt the "manly" car lists have any fewer gay members. More closeted, in heavy denial, rather than open and comfortable about it, perhaps.

Fortunately here in NYC, MINI's are a dime a dozen. No one is gonna mistake a MINI driver for the Mr. Macho but "chicks" here actually love being in them. My buddy owns one and is always telling me how his dates love his car and the fact that he has the style to drive one.

I'm a junior marketing major in California. I was in class one day talking about brands and brand management, and my professor, one with very little tact, casually mentioned that he didn't see why anyone would buy MINIs. He said they were kind of a quirky brand, and he kept on going, talking about how unsafe they are, how small they are, etc. etc. The looks on my friends faces, who all know I drive a MINI were priceless. I casually raised my hand and said that I actually drove a MINI, my parents drive MINIs and I feel that they are possibly the safest cars on the road. I kept going for about 3 minutes, an eternity in class time, and then asked him if he'd like me to take him for a drive sometime to show him what my "horrible" car can do.

Needless to say, he didn't take me up on the offer, and I didn't get the best grade in the class, but It makes me so mad about how ignorant people can be.

You'd better know the person you're talking to really well if you ever want to badmouth the MINI or it's owner!

I love my '04 MCS and I'm proud to drive it every day!!!
