transmission

I've got a 2007 MC 6 speed. I am going to be changing the transmission oil on it (I know it says lifetime fill...)

There are silver crimp on covers on the drain plug and the two fill plugs, or so it seems that these are the plugs.

Any ideas how to get them off ???

thanks,
steve

Why do you want to change the oil though?

There are metal particles in the transmission oil, normal wear and tear.

Clean oil makes for a longer life of the engine, tranny, differential, etc..

Sorry, but it's my belief that the maintenance scheduled by Mini extends change intervals way too long.

Are they replacable or reusable? I would be worried that if you ever have a problem with your tranny down the road, if you don't have the factory crimp-on covers they may call you out on it. Do you have a picture of what you're referring to?

I am at work now, so I'll try to get a photo later.

Yes, they are the factory crimp on covers. One at the bottom (drain plug) and two at the fill level. Just curious if anybody knows how to get them off.

Potentially, yes I could face warranty problems, but it's not a major issue in my mind.

thanks,
steve

are you sure you're looking at the correct plugs?

here is a pic of the transmission drain plug on the MCS manual.

I talked with my friendly service tech and he pointed out where the plugs are ...
