You know, I tried to find this setting a couple of weeks back, but no joy. I'll try again.

I've been following my mileage closely. Driving style is settling out, so I don't think it's a big variable in my figures. I have noticed that I'm getting two mpg more using Shell. I was using Chevron. Noticed the same lower numbers with a tank of Exxon. I know that Shell and Chevron are owned by the same company; they both include Techron.

A local independent gas station owner, who also happens to be my tire guy, told me that Shell was the only major company that still hadn't included ethanol in its mix. He said he was holding off, also (but he only has 87 oct and whatever detergents come from the 'Continental Pipeline' company).

He said 10% ethanol wasn't mandated until Jan 2010. That would seem to bear out in my mpg calculation since ethonol, while maintaining octane rating performance, has fewer calories than gas.

Anyone else have similar data?

Just took a trip to Mannheim, about 45 minutes each way. Averaged 130 KPH (80 MPH) and got 32MPG. At some points I was doing 100MPH, so it probably sucked more gas than need be. Think if I was back in the states and doing 65, it would probably get 34 - 35 MPG.

We carpool M-F and have only done local driving on Weekends. We fuel Molly every Friday Night at the Shell Station we pass on the way home. We've averaged 28.5 pretty consistently. Mind you we drive 32+ miles round trip on our commute, so we are pretty happy with what our MPG's are. It sure beats the '01 Durango that was getting 12MPG!! I'd LOVE to put it up for SALE, but we do need a 2nd car and I'm not sure it would sell any time soon anyway. Really wanting to get Hubby into a JCW MCCS, it will have to wait though. Molly is only 2Mo. old and 2425+ Miles on her.

Got 38 mpg combined on the first tank and that's with a zippy driving style.

Second tank is Shell V-Power am curious if my mpg will go up with the better gas.

Though an older post, today I filled up my '08 MCS (automatic) and drove about 150 miles. I averaged 38.4 mpg at 75mph with the ac on for half the time.

Granted, I was trying to get good mileage because I would have never driven so nice in town if I wasn't.

At a 50/50 mix, I usually average high 20's because I have such a lead foot.

Hey,

I have a 2004 Mini Cooper S with about 43,000 miles on it. I do mostly city driving, and taking the highway when I can. I average about 35 MPG. I've never got less than 30.

I'm interested in seeing the MPG numbers between a stock MCS, an MCS w/ JCW upgrades, a factory JCW, and an MCS w/ aftermarket stage kit upgrades.

Does anyone have any benchmarks / charts that shows this?

If the MCS w/ aftermarket stage kits and MCS w/ JCW upgrades still get at least 30 for mpg, I may think of saving up for an upgrade.

Thanks.

Though not JCW, I installed a CAI (DDM), I'm doubting I'll see any mpg increases though.

...'07 MC 6spd, about 80% hiWay, started off around 37-39, now at 8600 miles last 4 tanks have been over 40 MPG, last one was 42. I took a trip to Detroit from north Pittsburgh, made it there and back on a single tank, but it was down there! Also, I drive for fuel economy almost all the time: Short shift, try to only accelerate on downhills, gentle starts, etc.. But I do accelerate up to cruising speed on entrance ramps, and I am mindful of others on the road. I don't play left lane bandit and if there is a vehicle moving slower than my pace, I will accelerate to pass (like I said, usually on a downhilll though) and get back in my lane before I resume speed limit driving.

2007 Mini Cooper with manual transmision.
11,794 miles driven, 281 US gallons of gas burned.
I think that works out to about 41.97 miles per gallon.
I usually drive for economy, but not allways.

I'm seeing a 1 to 1.5mpg drop when I use the AC consistently, but still I'm getting 35-36mpg, depending on the week.

what gear do you cruise in on the freeway? What gear do you cruise in on streets? I can't break 40mpg to save my life. Do you have anything aftermarket on your MINI?

I was 40 yards behind a semi at 70mph when a rear dual came apart. The cloud of debris, which included huge tread sections ten feet in the air, is not something I ever want to see twice--especially not close up.

Not even for a few extra mpg.
