Resale

So I went to the BMW shop and I am looking to buy a 335i or a 1er. I was sad due to having to possibly sell the MINI. The crazy thing is the Dealer offered to "pay it Off" I almost passed out, thats only 17 grand total. mind you my MINI S is loaded, minus 4 items: auto, navi, harmon kardon and folding mirrors. Oh and 10 months old.
I must say I was rather apalled by his offer. I did some reasearch and the resale (privately) is 1,500 dollars more than what I paid for the car new.
The end thought.....Keep the MINI wait 4 months longer then buy the BMW also. I am simply amazed that these dealers think my car lost 8,000 dollars in 10 months, hell after all it holds its value, just price a 2003 model w/ no options.

Well, it is worth what they give you for it. You'll ALWAYS get a better deal selling privately. And if it really is worth more than you paid for it, just put it on autotrader and sell it for a small profit! Then, go order the 135i and buy a $1000 beater to drive in the meantime.

Cost of selling is expensive. I have found dealers want $4,000 plus on a trade. BUT when a dealer sells a car, they have to go over the car inside and out, make all repair, new tires, detail the car, carry the interest cost until sold, pay for ads, pay sales person commission and overhead. Dealers are in the business to make $$.

You should be able to sell the car easliy for more than the trade value but I doubt you will find a sucker to pay you more than you paid for it.

Best bet is to try to sell the car before you purchase the new one so you sell the car before you HAVE to sell the car.

Sell it to someone PCSing to Germany!! Someone who shipped a Suburban or Minivan over there and realizes now that their giant car is a pain in the bootie in K-town or anywhere else with narrow roads!! hehehhe

Well we decided to wait on selling it. I guess Im simply hoping on just paying it off, or griting my teeth and paying 1,000 dollars a month in car payments for the MINI and BMW, ya I know... To someday buy another MINI, we would have to spend approx. 30 grand. We paid 25,550 and it has everything except 4 items, the navi, auto, folding mirrors and harmon kardon 4 items not missed in the slightest. I feel confident I could get my 25 Grand back, however She grows on me more an more each day.... Besides, if I sold her, I wouldnt be part of such a great forum. I think Ill keep her.

i picked my mini up here in k-town. i got it as demo and saved alot. but on resale out here in germany they know you got it cheaper than in the states and the nada or kbb doesn't apply out here. i found out the hard way on my 328i. i actually lost money on it when i traded it in on a mazdaspeed 6. in the states thats bass ackwards. i got 25k for it when i could have gotten close 40k in the states. and i had to pay more for the mazda because it isn't a german made car. long story short keep your modded mini and just finance a 135i--you can't go wrong. now that is one sweet ride!
