Mini Cooper Best Resale Value in USA

Just saw on TV that the Mini Cooper is the best car for resale value in the USA. It holds 61% of its total value. Also, the story pointed out that the Mini Cooper is the exception to the rule when it comes to customization. Most cars it is a detriment when coming to resale. Not in our case! We rule!

Good news. And congratulations to us for having made the wise choice.

This is a meaningless statistic unless you say over what time period.

Resale value

I think it was over a 3 year period!

If it was 3 years, then they're actually overestimating the depreciation. I just sold my 2003 Cooper, which I paid $18800 for, for $16250. That was after 2 years nine months, and 28000 miles! In California the resale is even more insane, because there's still a long wait for the cars, and dealers (amazingly) are still getting away with markups.

The show was called Road Trip to the Chicago Autoshow as I recall. I had it on Tivo, but erased it already, so can't double check the details. They were talking about value at the end of a three year lease. They gave a pretty good review of the MINI. Talked about how people personalise them.

Kelley Blue Book rates the MINI Cooper as one of the top ten cars, and the top hatchback for retaining value five years from now. BMW is rated as the top value-retaining brand. It was one of the many considerations I took into account when purchasing my MCS (not that I'd really seriously considered anything else ), and although I really don't plan to sell her pretty much ever, it is nice to know she will be worth something.

I'm on a MINI Select loan for 4 years. They said my car is projected to keep 55% of its value after 4 years

The Blue Book® editors recommend looking for the following items in a new car to assist in slowing its depreciation:

Choose colors like black, white and silver
Make sure the vehicle has power windows, power door locks, tilt wheel and cruise control
Alloy or premium wheels
CD player
If the model has an upgraded engine option, the larger engine will most often hold value better
Remote entry

Leather

In today's Blue Book® you can often add value to your car if the following options are included: Sun Roof/ Moon Roof
ABS (Automatic Braking Systems)
Premium Sound System
Alloy Wheels
Leather
CD Player or Disc Changer
Roof Rack*

Third Row Seating*
Most of you are very lucky Funny they say black, white, and silver. I'm seeing mostly silver going up for sale, and mostly white's being traded up for. Black seems kind of rare on mini's.

"There's none more black..."

"Black seems kind of rare on mini's."

...and therefore all the more valuable upon resale/trade-in.

EZZZZACKLIE.

I test drove a black/white cooper. i think it's gorgeous. I think that and pepper white will definitely hold it's value.

I want an EB/W so bad, but that article says yellow won't do so good resale. I can't remember ever seeing an add fora LY for sale The one i have was the first one i ever saw for sale, and it happened to be the first LY/W i ever saw. Now they're coming out in hurds everywhere.

I recently sold my '02 for $16,000. Had 30,000 miles on it. Can't complain about that resale at all!

Usually my seat only rumbles after I indulge in some Mexican food, but I am pretty sure that is not what you are talking about. And if I did put a rumble seat in the boot, where would I keep my bottle of glass cleaner? (that is about all that fits in there).

You know after reading what the Blue Book editors wrote I remember that it was an interview they were doing in the show and I think it was a Blue Book editor that they were speaking to since the recommendations were word for word the same. I agree, no third row seating.

Purple is a pretty rare color

So is gold.
Velvet red.
Silk Green.

How well are they selling? I wanted a Velvet red so much, but i could almost never find one for sale. And the 3 i did, were all automatics. Yuck.

My parents didn't let me get a EB because they said they saw more of them on used car lots then on the road. So they thought it had bad resale potential.

Seeing as how i'm 19, and fitting the bill on my mini, the EB was out of the question for now. for them discontinuing it.

There are ALOT of silvers out there. Alot of CR's too. Almost no PW, Black, or BRG's in Richmond.

Besides being a beautiful color, Electric Blue shows the least amount of road grime of all the colors! I love my all Jet Black but she really requires LOADS of babying.....
