I've had my new R56 Cooper for a month now, but there are a couple of problems that I wonder if anyone else has.

Ignoring the rock-hard seats (are they all like that?):

The brake pedal clunks when you take your foot off it quickly. It sounds like metal on metal as it hits the stop. Does yours do this?

There is "play" in the clutch that sounds like driveline shunt in the transmission when you reengage the clutch, noticeably when changing up in the higher gears.

Once engaged there is no clunking so it sounds like clutch to me. But every up shift sounds like you take up some play when you apply power. The clutch also judders when moving away for the first 5 minutes from cold.

Have not experienced any of those problems, have your service dept take a look...

 

Had mine for a week now...haven't noticed any of those things.

I have the redwood leather seats and find them quite confortable.

I hope they can get yours tweaked for you.

 

No problems noted with my clutch.

I like my seats firm. New padding can be purchased at ice cream shops everywhere.

 

I have the punch leather non sport seats, Very comfortable.
