There is very little difference between reg and sport seats.

Anyone know which of the yellow insert colors for the Okoles is closest to Mellow Yellow? On my screen it looks like School Bus Yellow might be the best match.

You might also want to go with a contrasting color. Since the Wet Okoles aren't really coordinated with the Mini palette, getting something to match is pretty tough.

Am I missing something here? First, I have to assume we're talking covering cloth seats and not leather? Why are we covering cloth seats? To preserve the seat? To prevent wear? To hide the fact that we chose cloth and really wanted leather? To preserve the seats so that when the car goes to the crusher, the seats will be perfect?

I'm really confused on this one, I just don't understand this thinking? My mother, when I was a kid, went through the expense of covering her diningroom furniture with clear plastic? Buy an expensive chair and cover it in plastic???????

Why are you covering a seat that you already love? Splain me dis Lucy? :D

My don't we have the Monday attitude.

Like me and most others we didn't want the cloth seats to wear out and get stained. Plus the Okoles look awsome (better than stock).

So why don't you go back to mommy and enjoy her plastic slip covers.

I have used sheepskin seat covers in the past. They feel luxiours and comfortable. At costco they are 35.00 each.

I put Hawaiin print cotton covers on my old car. They spiced up an otherwise boring interior. Also saved some wear on the aging seats. In my mind they're purely aesthetic until a car is over 5 years old, then saving wear comes into play.

I just don't at all like the feel of neoprene.

Well, I dunno about you, but I haul kids. Like your Mom, I don't want the kids spilling juice, cheerios, milk and pretzels onto the permanent covers. Thus, neoprene is for me. Keep those seats sealed and krud free for as long as possible so that when the kids get past the spill stage, there's something worthwhile underneath.

You are probably right. I just thought it would liven up the all black interior a little. Just for fun, you know. Maybe I'll just wait until they get messed up and THEN cover them.

Thanks for the reality check.

Custom seat covers

We go with these seat covers during the hot weather and sweating season. It also helps us from burning after the car has set in the sun for a while.

Something that hasn't been discussed yet on this. It would seem to me that installing seat covers means that you would lose the protection of two airbags. The seat's are designed to split open under certain pressure parameters that occur during a side airbag deployment. Putting a seat cover over that is introducing a restraint that is not designed to those specifications. Am I wrong on this point?

My wife wanted Tinkerbell seat covers to match the rest of her car - named Tinkerbell. When we were about to put them on, I saw the airbag tag and said oop's, better not.

The Okoles are designed with the seat airbags in mind. Generic seat covers will not allow the use of the air bags in a dependable manner.

So I was smart to say it would be best to return the Tinkerbell seat covers. Thanks.

I had them send swatches for their three shades of Yellow, it is the Solar Yellow (320) that matched my new Mellow Yellow.

School Bus Yellow was darker w/more Orange on swatch, than on my computer screen.

I am getting Wet Okole primarily for comfort and maybe 20% for the color, I would never cover new seats for preservation.

I was also forced 'outside-the-box' for a satisfactory armrest

Cool! Thanks for the info. Seems to me a closely matching yellow would look good. Not sure what contrasting collow would work with the MellowYellow - Red??

For my eye, that Solar Yellow 320 looks perfect, (and she agreed )

For contrasting choices, being from Swedish Ancestry, have a warm feeling for the Blue and Yellow, however; MINI USA.com configurator will not allow that or red either. Brown would seem logical, but that is blocked as well.

The only color allowed (by MINI USA) is Tuscan Beige.. and Cashew might be closest Okole to Beige, notice that choice gets a swatch sent without request.

Best to get swatches for any color as I found that while 320 was pretty close, the other shades of yellow were quite different than my screens display of them.

Same with body colors, Oxygen Blue went from the top to the bottom of my list when I saw the car, I had not even considered Yellow, but it really grabbed my eye in person.

After hearing about how much everyone here liked the Okoles, we bought a set for our 2007 MCS.

Unfortunately, they don't actually fit that well for us. There is some extra material at the front corners of the seat cover. The company policy is *not* to help with installation issues and they do *not* offer any refunds.

Sort of a bummer for my first post, sorry :-(

How long have you had them?

Did you remove the seats from the car to install the covers?

The covers will do some "adjusting" once they are installed.

We've had them for a couple months now.

I did not remove the seats to install them - is that worth trying?

The seat cover should be all stretched out by now and yes taking the seats out REALLY helps with getting it tight over the OEM seat.

I love Wet Okoles for many reasons...and I put them over leather.

I don't slip/slide in the twisties. CG lock is great, but neopreme grips my jeans/shorts....much better control.

In cold weather (ya, ya, cold for San Diego) the seats are warm.

In hot weather (ya, ya, hot for San Diego) the seats are cool.

The contrasting colors make the interior pop and gives the car an even more "custom" and sporty look.

They are easy to install (once you've seen it done), and the ability to wash them is great.

They don't prevent air bag deployment, God forbid it's necessary.

I really can't think of any drawbacks to having them...other than perhaps the initial cost.

For most people, I think there is little chance they would get to see someone else do an install before doing their own...is there a youtube video maybe?

Either ours don't fit right or I'm just lame at installing them. In either case, the extra material at the front corners looks bad.

The seats come out very easily. 4 torx bolts and they are out and just as easy to put back in. Try taking the seats out and readjusting the covers.
