Hey guys,

I am going to order a set of TDs that do NOT have the TPMS ability. Is this going to screw up any ABS sensors or throw any light warnings?

Just curious if I should wait till the TPMS are available ... thanks in advance.

You should get a TPMS failure light. TPMS sensors measure air pressure in the tires. ABS is a different system and has other sensors that measure wheel rotation. The TPMS sensors may be able to be move from one wheel to another in that they are part of the valve stem assembly, unless for some reason they will not fit on the new wheels??.

Yep, if you install wheels without the TPMS valve stems, the TPMS light will illuminate on the dash and will not go out even with a TPMS reset. As stated above, the ABS is a separate system and will work separate from TPMS.

Good luck with the TDs! I thought about waiting for their TPMS-compatible version but opted for another wheel instead of waiting.

You just need to transfer the transmitter unit from each wheel to the new wheels...

Is there an audible 'ding' upon start up if you don't have the TPMS installed?

I have a ding at startup with a constant TPMS light on the speedo.My original wheels had the valve stem sensors(8/07 build)but my R98's have the older sensors(banded to the rim).One day I'll get around to switching them out!

if you push the button on the left stalk, does it go away and show you other stuff or does it stay there no matter what?

You can push the stalk to clear the tach light or just wait a few secs for it to go away but the speedo light will blink a few times and then stay on steady.

i have put my 18s on without tpms and got the light but i can reset it. same for my r53 with no issues. when i put the stock wheels back i have to reinitialize them. just follow the owners manual!

If you have NAV, can you sequence out of the screen complaining about the TPMS? I plan to get a set of performance tires for Autocross and don't image it would be that big a deal while autocrossing. I don't plan to look at the screen while racing, but I don't want to be distracted either.

I'll be taking delivery of my MINI in 2 weeks time and I've purchased new wheels for it about a month and 1/2 ago It's time to buy tires and get them mounted and I want to do it correctly.

Tire Rack is the least expensive that I have been able to find for the TPMS. I just ordered the Team Dynamics Pro 1.2 that is supposedly not TPMS friendly. The 17x7 is, but I ordered the 18x8s. I found a shop here that will strap the sensor inside the wheel and then I can use a regular valve stem. Thanks to Wake|MCS for heading me in that direction!

If you get aftermarket wheels that do not have TPMS, i understand the light will illuminate. Can you turn off/disconnect or pull the fuse from the TPMS system since you no longer have it and dont want an annoying light? I personally do not like the TPMS. I know it is mandatory by law now for cars to be equipped with it, but I am perfectly capable of checking tire pressure myself and do every other fill up or when tires look low.

There's no way to keep the TPMS light off(not known as of yet) if you aren't running sensors in your wheels.The TPMS control module(white box) is in the driver's side access panel in the boot.I tried unplugging it but the light still came on.
