Will stock 2006 15" wheels fit a 2007 MC?

Hi, does anyone know if the stock 15" wheels from a 2006 have the same offset, etc. so that they'll fit on my 2007? Same 4 lug pattern, and same width (5.5"), just wondering about the offset stuff.

Thanks everyone!!

LG

It might depend on the wheels themselves. I "think" in 06 MINI went to 14mm from 12mm lugs in later builds. So if they are 14 they should work.

From Helix Mini Sport website

Found this info on the lug size for the 2006 MC:

"Starting some time in later 2006, MINIs have larger wheel lug bolts. We have not been able to pinpoint a cut-off date for the size switch though, so if you have a MINI manufactured in 2006, please check your wheel lug bolt size before ordering."

Not sure what to do....

Maybe either find a 14mm lug (dealer?) or take one off your 07 and see if it fits the old rims.

All of the stock MINI wheels have ~16mm bolt holes, so they'll all work with the 12mm bolts or the newer 14mm bolts. You didn't say which 15" wheels you're considering, but I've personally put the "Holies" on my MINI with 14mm bolts.

You wouldn't be able to use 15" MINI wheels on a 2007 'S' hardtop, but that would be a brake clearance issue, not a bolt hole issue. On a 2007 MC, you won't have the brake clearance issue.

Hey Scott, why did you go and spoil the fun? I had a bet with Sherry that this thread could go to 40 posts!

See you at AMVIV!

I saw the thread heading in that direction, and couldn't bear to watch it happen over such a simple question.

You guys have fun for me in Vegas - Riqui is actually coming into town that week, so I think we'll be hanging out here in Monterey. If she were going to be here for longer than a few days, we'd make a trip out there, but I want her all to myself this time!!

Since some of us are new to MINIs we may not have the immense wisdom of others and have to ask questions. Maybe next time instead of taking bets you could just give an answer?

Both Jim and Sherry are extremely helpful as well as being knowledgeable, and I know that they wouldn't intentionally withhold information just to see how long a thread will go on.

Considering that the thread was barely six hours old when I posted the correct answer, I suspect what happened was that Jim and Sherry found the thread, read the replies that had been posted so far, made the joke between themselves about how long it would likely go on, and then saw my answer - all in the same sitting.

Scott is a much nicer person than I am!

I have answered that question, the first month that the cars with 14mm bolts hit the States, and posted pics. I was one of the first to fit the early wheels to a MINI with 14mm bolts. Been there, done that.

I was actually just doing a thread hijack so that I could say hello to Scott.

And just for the sake of making the thread as complete/accurate for anyone that reads it in the future:

*All* of the stock MINI wheels have had ~16mm bolt holes from the very beginning. The change in *bolt* size from 12mm to 14mm came in mid-2006. As far as I know, there was nothing significant that happened in 2004 regarding either the wheels or the lug bolts.

Scott---So, given your answer above, I'm guessing that 16" R84 X-Lite / V-Spoke wheels would work on an '08 R56 MC, correct? My car's on order with 16" Bridge Spokes, and I would love to have a set of "older" R84 wheels for a change.

HELP! For some odd reason, this is really bothering me....and I don't even have my car yet!

Thanks!
Dave

Yes - the '08 MC brakes aren't any bigger than the brakes on the earlier cars, so the X-lites will work with no clearance problems, either from the bolts or the brakes.
