R56 Is MINI your ONLY car?
My MCS is my daily driver and the best part of my day is driving to work and driving home. I also have a 1958 Austin A35 which I drive every now and then on the weekends, it really makes me appreciate my MCS even more. My 2 cars are polar opposites. The Austin corners poorly, accelerates badly and has a terrible braking distance but man does the MINI feel even more fantastic after driving it.
Haven't gotten my MINI yet (week 28 production!), but it will be essentially my only car. Husband rides a 2003 Vespa. We're selling my '99 Passat, and the '68 Cougar only comes out on the rare occasions when he needs a car (like once a month).
I'm on the same boat as you! I ordered mine last wednesday the 18th and it's scheduled for week 28 production.
I currently drive a '05 G35 coupe as a daily driver... I am young and plan to go back to school for my MBA so I don't mind having a small car... My current work commute is short (12 mi) which kills my MPG on the G... Also, I will be taking my MINI to the track occasionally so I think this car is a great compromise between gas mileage and handling

now waiting is the hardest part.
Currently, I'm driving my wife's VW Jetta on a 12mi each way commute. She takes the metro (subway) to work and doesn't have to drive. When I finally pull the trigger on the Mini S (end of summer), we'll have the Jetta sitting around for whenever we both need cars at the same time... which isn't very often.
My MINI is my daily car, to the Park N Ride bus stop; my fun ride on even mundane errands; my go motoring for the fun of it ride; my preferred car for trips; and my This-is-my-MINI-no-one-else-can-drive-it car. My wife has a BMW 328xi, black with gray interior, and loves it.
We tease each other about whose car is better. I'm usually winning on the handling front, and ready to take game-set-match when she invariably says "My BMW bought your MINI." What can I do, but click my heels and salute Der Fatherland and start speaking ersatz German till she breaks up laughing.
She came with me to MTTS Boston over the weekend and said, "I now understand the MINIverse. You're ALL weird or nuts." I took it as a compliment. She did drive an auto S on the motorcross and had fun. She wore her BMW shirts of course whilst I outfitted myself in MINI shirts. On the last day she wore the MTTS one I bought her so we matched on the way home.

Although MELO is still in the 'being born' process which should be completed June 26
I have prepared a spot for MCS between these two fellows... C6 Lingenfelter 366 and a wonderful 1990 ZR-1>>>

MELO will be our daily driver replacing a 06 Honda Civic... Also we just sold a Saffron Yellow Lotus Elise thus we had to have a yelo car again. MELO will have a wonderful home and in caring hands.

My MINI replaced a much loved '94 BMW 325i, and joined a stable including an '01 530i and a restored '64 Porsche 356SC Sunroof Coupe. The BMW's playing at an autocross. The Porsche's just resting--for now. Goes out regularly, including occasionally autocrossing.
