BMW also did this first 2-3 years of the e46 M3. The engine had a design flaw in the bearing and was popping. They for a while were saying the same thing that the cars were over rev'd or money shifted (even the DSG). Eventually, BMW ended up replacing all of the engines that were blown and had all M3s come in for free bearing replacement (and 7 year warranty upgrade).

Also, BMW may log RPMs in the computer, but not "how long has the car been run continusouly at x RPMs". Your dealer is full of crap and insist a replacement. You will get it. Talk to MINI US.

Brought the car in Monday (today) and received a phone call in mid afternoon... saying there was a software update available... they were flashing the car and going to see if it was having the same ignition problems in the morning.

Hopefully it's fixed.

Boy, enjoying, you must have been waiting for my post! Yeah, I'd like to know if it is--might be an auto only thing, and I won't have to worry about it.

daffodildeb: I talked to my dealer, and their service advisor told me that another here in town came in, making that 3 including mine... for these problems. There is a guy here . Regional Service Manager for BMW... He has been working on it since 7 am est Wed Feb 20th...

The cars that came in are manual transmission :(

And he also informed me, while he was away in Vegas for the clubman launch, he talked about my problem with a few other managers, and they said: We've had cars come in with the same problem, quite a few times,,, and we've had the reg. service managers come in. They still don't know what's wrong.. so basically we send them home... Cars still not running right.

I asked MY service advisor if that's what'll happen, he said likely, yes, if we can't fix the issue.

Great.

I'm going to hope that my car's exceptional reliability will hold true. She's a week 3 build, so I guess they either make them really good ('ay, mate, let's read the instructions), or there are a lot of problems ('ay, mate, what do you expect with a new model?). So far (I'm crossing my fingers here) we're doing quite well.

Hear that, Zippeee!?

I know it was originally sent to Braman MINI in So. Florida, then up to Mini of South Atlanta (where I purchased it)

and daffodildeb : I am sure you'll be ok

Robin, isn't there a way you can check this by holding the button down on the OBC? I seem to remember seeing this.

Probably not a good idea to post your VIN. For one, it is your access code to the Owner's Lounge. I'd edit it out.

Your issue doesn't sound like the cold start issue. I wonder how many MINIs have the wrong fuel pump, and how it happened?

I didn't know robots enjoyed a lager.

And robin: let's see if this fixes it.. remember, they've already said bad gas twice... accused me of abuse, etc.

I'll believe it when I see it

They don't, but the guy pushing the button does.

Let's hope this solves all of the problems once and for all.

I think it would be the guy ordering parts. Or, the guy shipping them.

Well 24 hours goes by, and no call from the dealership. I'm sure they're, as always, slacking, since it's the end of the week.

I'm calling tomorrow morning.. as they are opening.. to find out what the (you know) is going on.ugh..

Well I went to the dealership this morning

Conversation goes.

Walk in. See my service advisor. One of the other advisors is looking for my keys. My service advisor says to her his car isn't ready. Looks at me and says I just got the part this morning. Should be installed by this afternoon. Assuming that's the right part. I said I hope so I could write a book on this. Apparently you have he says. All over the Internet. As and far as I'm concerned you're no longer welcome at this dealership. If you want to take it to Atlanta so bad. Then take it.

Forgetting that I have a warranty. And that when it breaks down roadside will only tow it the nearest dealership. That would be tom bush. Well see when it happens. It will be clear violation of my warranty with mini USA.

Thoughts ?

Call MiniUSA, this is not acceptable behavior.
