R56 Coco Mats
Coco Mats
Getting my new mini sometime in Feb and I need to get some mats. After all the good things I've heard about the Coco's I'm definately going with a set. My problem is which color to choose.
My mini will be PS/B, anthracite headliner, cloth seats and brushed alloy interior w/sunroof.
Here's what I've narrowed it down to:
Black Herringbone

Black w/White Dot

Black w/Grey Dot

Let me know what you guys think.

Me... I'd go with the black/white dot because they would make more of a statement.
The black/silver dot would be my second choice as it would match your color scheme pretty closely.
You'll love those mats. We have two sets and will probably buy a third set soon.

I wouldn't be so sure about that, glangford. Mine are darker colors, true, but I've never seen them look dirty or dingy. The coco fibers just don't seem to absorb the dirt. I have a pair that's 18 months old and they look like the ones that are only a few months old. Both are black/red.
A while back I saw CoCo mats in black with red flecks, for the MINI. I can't recall who had them. Anyone able to help?
Thanks!
Edit: Oh boy. Found them at Moss and no convertible ones. Sorry I posted here, saw the thread in the left side and didn't realize it was in 2nd gen till I had posted...

You may have seen them in my 05 MSCS at the DCMM event back in... what... October ?
And they fit fine in the convertible. Get them directly from www.cocomats.com.

I was actually leaning toward the black w/grey dots before I posted the question. It seemed like an obvious choice with the interior I have but I still wanted other opinions. Looks like that's what I'm gonna pick.
To think I almost "settled" for the factory mats. Honestly I'm sure they aren't that bad a mat but I've never really seen a factory mat that still looked good in a daily driver after a year.

First, www.cocomats.com is "THE" place to get your mats. They are custom cut to fit whatever you have. Jeff is a very nice and easy person to work with. I did the mat photo work for most of his site, so the colors on the his web site are very accurate (assuming your monitor is calibrated).
The visual hot set up imho if you are thinking about black with red is to get red led strips from www.oznium.com and put them just above your foot wells shining down on the mats. Very easy to locate and wire. Wow what eye candy. The red dots seem to shimmer and squirm and just look great when you open the door at night to get in or out. Just a suggestion, and very hard to photograph to look realistic, sorry.
The red on black on his site is my MINI, check it out.
My mats are about 1 1/2 years old and look just like the day I got them. The color is still vibrant. I even hose mine down occasionally and just stand them up against a wall and let them drain in the sun for a couple of hours.

I have the all-black from cocomats.com in my convertible. The herringbone weave looks great. The quality is high and the fit is perfect and very snug.
In real life the herringbone weave is more visible than in this photo:

The rear Cocomats on my convertible are too thick to allow the front seat to slide all the way back. The seat stops at about 3 inches short of the full travel. I lift up the rear mat when I need a front seat to go completely all the way back.

Operator error ??
Here's a photo of underneath the back of my passenger seat, looking towards the center console. The rear mat is at bottom. That circular piece with X plastic ribs is VERY close to the carpet and hits the mat as the seat slides back (about 3 inches before the maximum rear travel of the seat). In fact, a mat can go under that plastic piece only if it is very thin. Looking at it now, maybe I should just cut a notch out along the edge of the mat, but I wonder if Cocomats has made a change since I got mine. By the way, this photo was taken without flash and shows off my rear footwell LED lighting.

Apologies to geekswrath (this is off topic from your original question).

See the link in my post #6.
rkw, I bought the mats for my convertible only about 6 months ago... 8/07. Maybe they redesigned them (??). I'll go measure them later.

The only down side of the smaller rear mats is that they don't go very far under the seats... and they seem like VERY little mat for what they cost...

But I love them anyway.

Oh yeah - and back on topic - I vote black with gray dots.
Yep - ChiliPepJet - I'll bet a six pack that your cabrio mats were cut using the template I made...
